Alrighty, fairly simple.

Introduce "boss encounters". These bosses would be a random encounter out of (I'm just gonna go with half the super ratio here for example) 1/55k fights.  These "boss encounters" would require skill to defeat thereby earning the player the item (which would have a 100% drop ratio once you've managed to defeat that unique boss).

An example of how it could go:

You begin training, training, training... normal monster, normal monster...

*Pop up*

"You have encountered a boss(or insert original/unoriginal name here Tongue ), will you fight it?"

(You click "Yes")

      *Battle begins*

Here is where the "unique" coding of the boss comes in, very much like when you ask an NPC for a duel.

      *You manage to defeat it*

"Boss" has dropped a *boss's item*, where would you like to put it?

example: "Diablo has dropped a Diablo's Hammer, where would you like to put it?"

(You click on the slot)

(You do a little dance as this is your first weapon stronger then a lvl 8  )

Now 3 things come to mind for me with this:

1. The player should not have the defeat counted as a death and should not be given a death penalty. (Debatable I think, but I agree with this)

2. The pop up at the start of the fight is very important!

3. There's an issue here with the power of a "Diablo's Hammer" where Diablo might be a boss you can encounter in Noslin and a Llirrem super. Should the Llirrem be stronger? Personally, I think the boss weapons should be balanced according to the map they are found in just as a super is.  So yes, I do believe the Diablo's Hammer should be stronger then a hammer of Lirrem but that's me.

There's plenty more details I'm sure (bring them up!) but what do you think?

Hah, the first boss suggestiong where you can't even do boss runs even if you wanted. I think it's a good idea, but there isn't a big gap between level 8 rares and Llirrem supers. This will be great though, for when they work in status conditions like poisons, or maybe even beneficial conditions for the player. Or maybe even set items...

Huzzay to it, it sounds wonderful.

But, as Kyo said, until items can have more than just a mix and match of four stat mods, then...not so much.

With elemental damage, additional hits, magic damage, increased accuracy (We *should* be able to miss monsters, in my opinion.), leach, 1-5/day special abilities activated on command, etc. etc. etc., this idea would be rather intriguing.

New players would love it mostly for the increased chance to not be stuck in Rothar for ages, most oldbies would enjoy the added variety to weapons/character builds/etc., and MB would hate it because it'd mean more stuff to collect. *cough*

I have little suggestion, for 1 million you can say Enchant if you will you BloN giving it 100 extra Dex mod and 200 Damage mob and 100 Hp Mob, sound good, only 3 Enchants per Weap or MB would just 1 hit us all *Cough* bloddy rich Tank *Cough*

1 mil for first, 10 mil for second and 100 mil for third, dumb but worth a try, sorry if this is Sapm Cry don't spank me Kyoke, unless you have to =D *Cough Plz Do Cough*

rather than this, what about winning 1 random stat point to a stat, I think it would be quite a nice addition

seriously i dont see much of a gap...

Dragon Skull mace.... Number 1100
Llirrem supers... 1950 to 1950 except for wands and protectors

really thats not much of a difference... 1k... also it would make supers less.... well.... super. i, at lvl 500+, have a hard time PKing somone lvl 5 with a *oN and PoN... the supers make up for the level. I think the boss idea is cool, and maybe being able to add a stat point like bel said, but boss weapons? i think not.

Sorry but my vote is no. Good idea tho you really thought it out.

<edit>
wtf was i thinking? 1000 damage difference is like, twice the damage of the weapon... thats insane. And the boss idea is good, why would i shoot that down? bah

It might not seem like it, but a difference of 750 is massive. For starters, that's 38 pk damage. If you crit, that's an extra 1,125 damage. If you 2x crit then that's 1,500 right there. If you berserk, that's an extra 2,250. Even if these new items don't get added, maybe a scroll that can apply effects to a weapon of your choice. Such as a 5 percent chance of your foe being unable to attack due to paralysis next turn. As a matter of fact...

Scrolls are old, tired, and lame.

We should use eggs. Yes. Eggs. Just slam the egg on the ground and poof, effect-o. If not eggs, something other than scrolls Tongue
