Hi, I would like to make a mining guide for myself and other new players, unfortunately right now I know very little about mining so I am going to need some help from other people to complete this and then maybe we can get it stickied.

Stats
HP: More HP means you can sustain more damage. If you are making a purely mining character then you will probably want 3hp per level
MP: Useless. You will want MP to be able to heal yourself between sessions, but you will get enough from leveling, never put points into MP.
STR: Effect unknown. Regardless, since you don't get exp from mining you will probably want str for fighting. Possibly increases amount of gold mined.
DEX: Effect unknown. If it does have an effect I would assume it would be relating to reducing the chance to be hit by rocks
DEF: Effect unknown. I would assume it would reduce the damage you recieve.
INT: No effect. Almost completely certain INT has no effect. But you may choose to put your other 2 points in int for fighting creatures to level up.
LVL: Effect unknown. It is possibly that the amount of damage you recieve scales based on your level. If so then you will want to put 3 hp every level to keep ahead of the damage.

Mining Skill: Increases gold recieved. Allows new methods of mining. Allows you to dig further. I think you get chip at 25 and the other one at 50, not sure though.

Gold Recieved
The more vigorous mining method you use the more money you will recieve. I thought that the gold you recieve was based on mining skill and total strength (including weapon) although after testing (removing and reequiping my weapon) I failed to see any difference. This means that it is either purely skill or skill and base strength, or my testing was flawed. Could use some help here.
Additionally it appears that the further you get in the mine the more money you recieve, if you survive of course. Hence, if you didn't die, you would get a lot more money by digging until you reach the deepest level and then exiting than digging once, exiting and repeating.

Damage Recieved
When you are mining there is a chance to be hit by falling rocks. The damage and probability is greater based on the mining technique you are using.

Build
Need help here.
1. What level should you aim for before mining?
2. 3 points to hp, but what of the other 2?
3. What race? I am assuming Torthan, Gailin or Wiban for the 5mp per level since other abilities are irrelevent after a few levels.

Mining
At first you will just want to level your mining skill. It appears that you get the same amount of skill regardless of what technique you use, so always use your safest one. If you do want some money then wire gold to an alt everytime you reach a predetermined amount of gold. 1000 is good when you first start, and increase that as you get more skilled/lazy/cocky. You will need a healing spell to heal you between sessions, and don't be afraid to stop mining if your health gets low. Leave the mine, heal up and go at it again, no one says you have to reach the deepest level.
Need help:
1. What mining techniques should be used.
2. At what skill levels should they start using different techniques etc.

Acknowledgements
So far just me, but anyone who contributes will get their name here.

Notes
This is very rough right now and contains pretty much nothing for certain. Anything you can contribute or confirm would be great. Thanks.

NEED HELP
Here is a summary of what I know I don't know.
1. What stats are involved in mining and how.
2. How does the damage you recieve scale.
3. Tips on making a mining character.
4. Leveling your character
5. Any other information or math relating to mining.

Hmm...Under races you listed Torthan, but they only have two starting int, meaning they don't get 5mp per level as far as I know. I think you mean Elves. And halflings aren't a bad choice either, only 4mp per level last I checked, but the supposed additional rare find is nice considering you will be leveling.

Also, a decent build for this that doesn't involve being a 3hp fighter would probably be an HP mage. Whenever I get the mage guide posted up (perhaps sometime in the next week or so, I've got quite a bit going on right now) you can see exactly how to pull that off. I'll of course explain leveling habits if I can get Freeedr to explain just how he did it.

A few facts that have things to do with mining.

*If you take damage, but don't get crushed, you only get 1 mining exp.

*If you did but find nothing, you get 2 mining exp.

*If you get immediately crushed, you won't get your EXPTNL raised unless you're level 50 or higher (not sure on the number, but I know it's not lvl 1 Cheesy)

*HP boosting items you might want to get your hands on:
Armor:
Soul Protector (90 HP Mod)
Spirits Guard (75 HP Mod)

Weapons:
Dragon's Tooth (80 HP Mod)
Demon's Tooth (65 HP Mod)

*Between Mining Spells
Healing Spirit: 150 HP healed for 30 MP (Water Lv 14)
Godly Force: 900 HP healed for 125 MP (Holy Lv 46)
