Most of the replys have said no to a wipe... im beginning to agree with them. Also no to losing items when you die. I also agree after hearing their side of things, so for now no wipe, no items loss when you die, but do read the stuff and see what you like and dislike.

There was another topic about this. Should there be a wipe. 60-40 split leaning towards no. well "no" might not be soo bad. Please hear me out, i got a lot of ideas reading your posts (sorry if i copied your stuff and forgot to give credit, MB/MR i stole some of your stuff), read the whole thing, make notes if u need to (yes its very long please read it all b4 u post)

There should be a wipe. but not just a wipe. A wipe is a short term fix. give it 3 months and there will be the same problem over again. No a wipe is not the answer

but wait, you say, you just said there should be one! Why yes, there should be a wipe. My you are observant. But not just a wipe. There should not just be a wipe, but a reconfiguration. a rebirth, if you will

I think everything needs a little boost. The battle system has been commented on needing help, better monsters, money drains other than clans, rares not being rare, and the list goes on. This is not a fast answer, i am actually taking time to reply on this please take me seriously.

rares - should be bought from players for a set price, and sold for outragous prices, like 100 mill+
this will do things - prices would be kept regulated. If you want a lvl 8 rare, its actually worth a set price. The shop may pay you a certian price, this would be your selling minamum, and the shop would sell for a set price, the selling maximum.

You should drop all items and gold when you die. Ultrarares would be able to be bought so you think that would make them common right? wrong. If you die, you lose the item. Make it dissapear after a time period, like 5 mins, that way you need to race back to the corpse to get your stuff back, otherwise its gone permenently. This causes things like rares to not be so common

Now if the shop can sell rares, that makes them common right? wrong. If a super rare costs 1000mill to buy, its gonna take a while to get that much gold.


now i had an idea about item damage with use, and some people, *cough gungrave, gungrave cough* were not all that hot about it. i still say it may have its place, i dont know, feedback helps work my genius Smiley for now i guess its out, but it may still have its place


battle should be broken up into rounds. You pick your attack, the opponent picks their attack. The one with the highest dex and weapon with the best quickness uses their attack first. This makes items' "quickness" number worthwhile.

The monsters should have skills like players, make the battles play out like PvP battles. The monsters could hang out in different areas depending on their major stats. For instance, mages in one area, soldiers in another, pures, mixtures, etc. and depending on the lvl the wider variety they could be.

(This could be done by having a coordinate (1, 1) be pure mage, and coord (10, 1) be pure soldier, so if your at (5, 1) you would hit a mage soldier) ok bad example you know what i mean

its at this time im wondering if theres a limit to how much i can post at once.... I plod on at the keyboard...

there should be a limit to how many clans people can be in. You should be able to own a total of 3 clans at a time, and each new clan costs an ADDITIONAL 30 mill. So the first one is 30 mill, the 2nd is 60 mill, the 3rd is 90 mill. Now lets suppose you dont want a clan anymore or want to make a new one. You should be able to remove your clan. This opens a slot for you to make another clan, clan 4, costing 120 mill. See what i mean? clans cost less money at first but more later on. This makes clans be less numerous, solving the "clan" problem.

Banks should hold more items. Lets face it, 5 items is not enough. make it closer to 10 that should be better Smiley. Most ppl were using clans for storage banks anyways, so this would eliminate another need for a lot of clans.

On the topic of clans, i think the top 10 clans should give bonus stats to their participants. If your clan is rated the best (fewest member deaths, most player kills) then that would give a bonus to the member's exp/gold gained. Example, clan xyz is rated #1, that clan gets 10% more exp/gold per battle. Clan #2 gets 9%, etc. Numbers need working, but you know what i mean.

also, you should only be able to be in 3 clans at a time. the better clans would be more exclusive, and it would be more of a "status symbol". You can make your own clan if you want, and if you get invited into a more "prestegious" clan you wont need to abandon your own clan, and it wont count against your "creation fee"

what else am i forgetting? Oh yess...

Cosmetics... As i said before, the whole map should be remodled. make it look newer, like a new age. The buildings around the maps should sell different items, such as differen items sold in different places. If More places were "open for business" then maybe item damage would actually be plausable. Now i hear the protests you dont want to walk all the way from mount noslin, well lets make a repair places more accessable

another problem is excessive lower lvl monster attacks. How many times have you been walking along and a lvl 1 attacks and your like aww man cuz you get very little exp? Well make the probability of monster attack be based on your current lvl. Example, monster lvl 125 (assuming new monster lvl layout), your lvl 236? ?((125)-(236))*0.5= -55.5 so if u have a 100% chance of battling, the lvl mod would reduce that chance by -55.5%. If the monster is lvl 300 it increases your chances of battle by 32%. See how it works? this would make walking through low lvl areas a lot easier and less annoying. Im espically proud of working this out Smiley



i think thats it... i may be adding to this but its lots for now. Please comment on everything after about a month of playing and chatting with some people in the game longer than i, i begin to see why there should be a re-format. Theres one key point tho - should all these changes be implemented on everyone by upgrading the current system and wipeing everyone's stuff, or make a seperate "New" version. I dont know, theres pros and cons both ways.

*edit* One thing i forgot was mage battles. Mages should not be left out of things like tournements. I think there should be a way to select a few attacks the mage wants to use before the tourney starts, and be able to select the spell to be used in the tournement. hotkeys may also work, for instance, hotkey the spell you want to use and click the person you want to use it on.

i dont want to spend the time going point by point, but let me just say a lot of what u suggested was already mentioned and talked about, if it isnt on this forum it was on the old forum from before we had to change forums. For example, your last edit about mages has been around for a while because mages have complained for a long time about not being able to use spells in a pk or pvp battle.  The whole problem with that is that spells are too strong for pvp or pk, since a mage at high lvls can do more damage with one spell barehanded than a warrior with the best super weapon in the game could do, some of the spells have stacking effects, etc. and so the whole spell damage system would have to be reworked in a way that the attacks would be balanced with warrior attacks before they are to be used in pk/pvp.

i also just want to mention that you said the idea of being in 3 clans at a time in 2 different places, during ur 30, 60, 90 idea and again after the clan status idea.

I dont want to argue about things i've already argued about before, but i'll just say i agree with gungrave and a bunch of other people that i think the weapon damage is a bad idea and so is ur dropping ur items when u die idea.  I've seen that idea ruin other games, like people would always be trying to pk people they knew had good equipment just to steal their equipment from them, a lot of the time just to sell it to someone else for money because they didnt even need the stuff in the first place.  Thas all i'm going to say right now.

One wipe with the sole prupose of making some fundamental changes - hell yeah.

Rares more rare - yeah. How we do that is a whole topic of discussion, because simply lowering the percentage drop might not be the answer. Once we add more equipment slots perhaps having the same rare drop rate will make sense. Its a big topic, and we'll make a thread about it closer to tweaking time.

Store bought rares - We'd have to ensure a damn good economy, and like you said, some damn high prices Wink. Definitely some stronger buyable items from some different shops (with a long walk through high level mobs in some cases Tongue) is something we'd love to have.

Dropping items - although it is a viable solution, most players (myself included) find it too cruel and exetremely frustrating. Especially if we make rares more rare. Just not a direction Quest will be goin' in.

Battles - Shiris has done wonders behind the scenes to set up battles being the same as pvp, and monsters being just like players. Now all we need to do is get them in and balance them. Different types of monsters in different areas of the map was something we were toying with but a harddrive failure lost alot of work on the map editor designed to do it. Might be something to work with later, but will likely be random for now.

Clans limit - I like. increasing cost of a second barracks might lead to people making a second account and having a lvl2 clan leader ;/. Cant think of a way around that.

Each character only being able to join one clan - dunno. I agree we can do more with clans but havent thought about how.

10 bank slots - sure. we redid the way items are stored awhile ago and its no longer an issue. Thinking about giving 10-15 inventory slots to go along with changes in potions and equipment too. But thats a topic for another time.

Anoying low lvl battles - yeah, they are kinda anoying, but we wouldnt want to make it hard for someone who likes to fight lower level mobs. Maybe some monster luring/repeling inventory items (or on equipment) instead?

Mages n' pvp- yup. workin on it.

Since we're throwing up here alot of old suggestions I'll add one of me again: buying levels
and this time I don't want to hear a "No" or a "No that's getting something for nothing" because that is not true ... you need to earn that gold and it can be your decision to put it into a weapon to level quicker or to buy some stats with it.
any constructive comment is welcome
Pricing would be around 50~100 mill I guess

To comment on your suggestions:

Wipe - only if it's needed to implement new things.

Rares - more? ... I think the rate is low enough, specially for level 8's
I don't know about others but it is supposed to be 1/6000
I think I'm just here to level the odds when people find rares every 3 or 4K fights Smiley
Lower level rares are dropped too easily imho

Rares from shops - no ... what makes them rare then?

Higher level normal items - nope, makes rares useless

Losing items - brrrrrrrr

battles - we have to watch out the game keeps his dynamic attitude, battles shouldn't last too long. This is 1 of the main reasons I like Quest 5487257409 times better as runescape.

Clans - no more then 3 clans ... nice! but there goes another money drain Smiley My suggestion for them: Contribution
Contribution = For every clan you own you pay a amount of gold a day which has to be in your bank. If the gold isnt there the clan "locks" you can "unlock the clan for half the amount you bought it for. you have this option for a week, after this week the clan AND ALL ITEMS + GOLD inside it gets DELETED

Joining clans - maybe something like the above, if you join a clan you have to pay contribution, if you don't pay you get kicked out.

THE ABOVE 2 SUGGESTIONS WILL AUTOMATICLY REMOVE THE CHEAT OPTION OF IMPERSONATING AND CLAN ROBBERY

More slots - fine, specially with clans redone ... not that I find anything .... filling up 10 slots would take ... a year Smiley

low lvl battles ... not really worth the hassle, if you're big enough to find them annoying you can also 1~2 hit them and move on, on the other hand paths to special places 8cough* witch *cough* would be nice Smiley

Mages PVP - Sweet Smiley ... but tough to balance I guess (I'm not a coder) (still super curious about the APO formula) lol

While a good suggestion, prices need to have formulas involved. That way it would be EXTREMELY expensive for somebody like RUSSEL to buy a level(he could probably still buy 20 that miserly ...), but, on the other hand, a level 1 should be able to buy to level 2 with .. Oh, maybe 1mil or so?

Anyway.. The formula needs to be something crazy... With Logarithms, Sequences, Series, Square Roots, Cubes, Scientific Notation, and a Stern Stare...

Anybody know anyone who could do it?

the easiest fix,if there isnt going to be any real significant update for a LONG time,open another server thing,like a new world,problem will be fixed for like 4 years yay

Lol thats what i said... sort of... lol

Anyways lots of great feedback keep it coming. Most of you are telling me in game or pm's or whatever that loosing items would be bad. Ok i can deal with that. your also saying item damage is bad. Sure. Ideas are great, and feedback helps weed them out. Lots of you agree we need more to spend money on. Some of you dont think there is a need for item slots, well right nowi have found 2 rare snowman's mail, 2 rare arcos, like 7 sets of potions, 3 hammers (nonrare) 2 javalins (nonrare) and a few other things..... all this in under 10k fights... call me lucky or what?

Oh and a blade of rothar, but thats a touchy subject so dont ask.

anyways i could use the space, and i know that lots of ppl use clans as item storage places, so more invintory space would make the need for lots of clans less.

Good point (I forget who it was) about ppl just making new chars and new clans... i guess theres no real way around that. but if your only able to be in, like, 3 clans at a time, then even if u have 20 chars its not gonna help anyways becasue all your chars could only be in the same 3 clans... i dunno i think it would help at least...

a joining fee for clans? hmmmm.... what if that money went into "clan funds", possably for upkeep of the clan. needing to pay a weekly sum to keep clans active is a possability, but i dont think it should be weekly, maybe monthly, and what about if ppl in the clan are away on hilidays? i know some ppl who have rejoined after like 3 years away. good idea, but it has its problems

in clan items being deleted? No. ppl alreaady said their against loosing items if they die, they dont want to lose items if their clan payments are not all there.

Problem is this would be a short term answer, and in 4 years there would be the same problem. Thats why somthing different needs to be done. However if they did open a new server with all the changes for like a month or 2 and said here you go try it out, we could see what we all like and dislike. maybe item damage wouldnt be soo bad just changing dynamics a little.

also i realize im the noob and its like new guys tryin to take control, no thats not what it is. I have heard your expressions for somthing needing to be done and i have some ideas i have gathered. Nothing is set in stone, and im sure you can all have your own say.

well i think there needs to be some major changes/fixes like make mages be able to battle and change how exp works or somthing major, and get a lot of those "major" fixes and do a wipe when that version comes out. wipes have been suggested a lot and keep getting shot down mostly because theres nothing keeping the same problem from happening again... so if there were major changes it may be necessary but for now im gonna keep playing quest as it is Smiley
