I think the items should be able to get damaged. the damage they deal could be calculated on how "broken" the weapon is, and there are numerous buildings everywhere that are doing nothing, those could be used to "fix" weapons and armor. lets say a hammer has a durability of 100, and it takes .1 damage per hit, that means it has 1000 uses before its useless. and what if it cost like 10 gold per point to repair that hammer? Better items could have more durability, but are costlier to fix. Just because you HAVE an ultrarare doesnt mean you can afford to keep it a sidenote is that when you go to trade items you should be able to see the stats on that object and see how much damage it has. give me your feedback

On the plus side, it would be a good way to get rid of a lot of the money stockpiles lying around everywhere, but on the other hand, it would be an extreme inconvenience to a lot of players, making return to a town in order to be able to repair their weapons. This would break the monotony of training, but, as i said before, it would be a towering inconvenience.

durability is a big goldsink I think we'll have to look at. We dont want it to be an annoyance though, so it'll be alot of touches to totally run your weapon down if we do add it.

Like....a disabled status for the weapon? Doesn't really make sense in a realisticly, but i can see why you wouldn't want your HoN or whatever variant of Noslin you have to cease to exist.

Also, Mages wouldn't have to repair their weapons, only their armor, as we don't use Melee Attacks. Which would somewhat make it unfair to be a Mage as you would probably have more money than a warrior of the same level because the warrior has had to repair both Armor and Weapon.
Unless, of course, you made armor on mages deplete twice as fast. But on the other hand that would make mages have to go to town more often. There are alot of factors in the game to take in to consideration before something like this is implemented.

(Perin)
seriously i feel that the monotony in this game is why i like it you start making the game more "in depth" and it just may ruin it for the few of us that just happen to like it the way it is ... sheesh weapon damage and armor damage ... i may as well be playing KOC or some other overly involved game that eats my time and gold to do things that have absotlutely nothing to do with leveling ... you want my opinion on fixing things here well what needs to be done is a clan wipe ... let people get the 5 items a character can carry to allow for them to get a few precious items then wipe everything from the clans including gold people wouldnt be allowed to have any gold on their characters and those that dont have clans would put their gold in the treasure chest... see if you ask me the only thing that needs fixing here is the economy ... if you change too much in this game will it still be the same game ... i hardly think so ... by wiping the clans you would get rid of all the over abundance of gold and weapons that people have collected .. even myself i have almost 100 rares in my clan and over 300 million in gold and i know im on the low end of things there so yes wipe away even though i would loose my gold and items .... ohhhh well they can be found again ... yes there may be a need for us to have a way to spend gold but look at it this way arent weapons and armor and rares what people USED to spend gold on? and yes this clan wipe idea has been mine for some time and i take full responsibillity for speaking of it in open chat so that others may take it as their own idea and plan ... i really like the game just the way it is and feel that if the clans would be wiped it would stabilize the economy and give people something to spend gold on ..... so what if you have to clan wipe every few years .... again its the simplicity of the game the way it is now that i like and would not want any other changes to be made to the game ..... as far as stores go my god what happened at daneas... let that be a learning experience ... whats needed there is a set pricing plan on items ... none of this set yer own pricing ok look what has happened i have seen prices plummet in the past few months as there is no way for the prices to be set other than a minimun of 500k well guess what in a few more months thats what everything is going to be sold at ... as far as people giving away like i have seen level 7 and 8 rares to level 1 - 5 n00bs look at it this way if there is a clan wipe and you only have 5 items are you gonna want to be giving one away to a new n00b? heck no i sure wouldnt ... thats like i said the economy is the only thing need be fixed in this otherwise wonderfully simple and fun game to play ..... and heres another thing i dont like ... when you die you drop yer items as well as gold? my god man that would ruin the game ... why would you want to do something like that to people ... thats way over the line and i honestly wouldnt play if i knew i had a chance of losing all my items in a game if i died especially with the chances of finding things in this game the way they are ...i cant believe that new people can come into this game and feel like they need to change the way people have been happy with this game for years ... yes change is a good thing but i look at it this way the only reason i like this game is because its totally diferent than others out there ... if you dont like the game the way it is maybe its not for you ... dont come in here and think yer gonna change the way we that have been here for years like to play ... thats why weve been here for years

Agreed. Though Perin does raise a good point. One of the bigger things that draw people to Quest is it's simplicity. Everyone can play(and enjoy) Quest with almost no bars on age.

however I must say, diversity means more addiction, wouldnt you like to learn more moves as your skill in weapon increases? for instance,100 slash you get some kind of sword attack,100 stab skill you get 1 extra first attack when wielding stab weapons? stuff like that, advanced yet simple, would add quite alot more depth into this game while retaining its simplicity
I do believe the main reason for lack of gold usage is once you get 2 supers, what on earth are you going to use gold for? if there was a way in which to advance your already owned weapons (smithing, anyone?) then perhaps gold would have it uses
if everyone lost theyre clans in the wipe, and alongside with items, what about theyre gold? Im sure most people could buy 80% of the rares they previously lost back, and another 2 clans to boot
new people's opinions still do matter though,to get another perceptive of what the "new generation" or whatever you want to call it,wants to see,I think items dissapearing when you drop them is quite a bad idea though, theyre are a number of bugs that allow you to just die in battle..imagine if that was you, with 2 supers,yeah..youd be pretty angry
this game has stayed the same for years, yes, nothing really significant has changed, yes, but if you tell people not to come in here and try to change the game to what they see is "better",then no ones going to ever have an opinion on anything

im not sure if perin was trying to say to the noobs not to give input. That might have been said wrong, not sure. Input from the "next generation" is a good thing. Keeps the game going if you ask me. Its just that some of the ideas aren't well in my opinion to good. Especially the items being dropped when u die. At that point anyone else would be able to pick the stuff up and yes that would anger alot of people considering how hard it is to find the items "supers" in the first place. I'm not saying the ideas are bad. No ideas are bad cause they are just that ideas and suggestions. I do like the idea of gaining special moves at certain levels to make the game more interesting though. It would definately give a little diversity between characters escpecially if we had the choice of what moves we could have. The broken weapon deal im not sure i like either. Yes it would give people a place to use their gold but isnt that what clans are for? Having to fix the weapons every so often would just take away from leveling if you ask me. a sidenote is that when you go to trade items you should be able to see the stats on that object and see how much damage it has.
if this were ever to be implemented u can already see stats on weapons b4 you buy them already :0)

yay feedback... i love feedback... even (bad?) feedback... first let me say this... Perin what the heck are you babbelling about? i read, then reread your post and man im with gungrave... paragraphs are a good thing... lol. No offence, but please you may have good ideas but if nobody can read them they will just pass by your post not reading it... Ok i can realize im a noob. Im comin in "flags a wavin" tryin to change everything... or so it seems. Ok so you all dont like item damage... well let me clear some stuff up. If your weapon had, say 100 000 uses before it had to be repaired, come on who goes through 100k uses in a day? Im lvl 200+ and only have 10k fights, with an average of 3 attacks per monster, thats like 30k uses... ... ... tryin to tell me you cant live with needing to repair an item even once a day (probably closer to once a week or 2 weeks depending) also if the item didnt work "less efficently" it just "broke" when it had 0 uses left, then you dont need to keep repairing it so it works better, yo just ahve to repair it after the uses are gone. Thirdly, the "broken" item doesnt need to be discarded. It could be repaired. Liek if a watch breaks you can throw it out or go get it repaired. repairing a "broken" item could cost more tho so ppl dont let their items break also, the rarer an item is the more it could cost to get it repaired. (did i say this?) This is all an effort to get places to sink money into. Please keep the feedback comin

(Perin) who cares about how it looks if you want to read it then read it ..... if not oh well i wrote this on my way to work i didnt say anything about new players not being able to have an opinion ... all im saying is if you're new and want the game to be something other than what it is why are you playing this game ..... i feel opinions are a good thing and this is mine so why bash me over it if you read my post word for word it says nothing about not wanting peoples opinion what it does say is this ... if you are new here and have an opinion say it but dont try to change the game to others you have played before .... you'll ruin it for the people like me that are comfortable and like it the way it is i found this game years ago and fell in love with the simplicity and most importantly the community everyone here for the most part is nice and fun to talk to again i have no problem with new people having an opinion i just dont feel this game needs to change to be like every other mmorpg out there i have played several over the years and they are all the same or try to be the same ... this game is totally diferent from that and should stay that way ... there i have said it and i used paragraphs ... happy now? ?? :P:P:P:P pss lexi says im coming across wrong again but hey i mean this in only the best ways really i dont understand why people want to change something that is soooo good the way it is

I'm with Bel, I believe that the weapon skills would add a great mastery to Quest, EG, 100 Slash, fighter heal and attack, 100 Throw, 1.5x more dammage, fire throw or summat like that

know what? after being here several months, im starting to think a lot more like Perin.... leave it as it is. The simplicity of the game makes it appealing.... but we gotta have somwhere to sink that gold...
