Ok, not sure if this is the right place to put this, but it has to do with the RP threads. I tryed to make my third world in RP, but something went wrong while trying to explain something. I tryed to use the term 'profession' to classify the chars, but that didn't work. For other RPGs I've played, I've heard the terms, 'Job', 'Profession', and 'Class'. So, which is the right one to use? I'm a little confused.

Fire is fun to play with, as long as its not used on yourself. When the world turns on you, and there is no one to help, what do you do?You want to look in the well? *kicks person in the well*

RP and RPG are two different things o.O
It's not like FFT, there's no Job Class system set up...so when you say profession, it means like a way of making a living. Of course, I can't see how you can expect things such as classes to actually have an impact...

Eh, didn't really plan on it having an impact, just was curious of what type of char ppl like to create. Lol, and it would also help determine sertain skills, such as healing, and such.

Ok, thx. It's kinda confusing since there are three terms(possibly more) to say the same thing.

Yea Kit, but some RPGs, such as GW, used the term 'Profession' instead of 'Class', and some FF use 'Job' instead.

Yup. This was the right place for this thread. Good job, guys..at sorting that. I think if we stick to class, for the purposes of everyone being on the same page...we'll probably be in good shape!

Hmm... And to think I've gone along life thinking that a profession is something you're a professional at. If you ask me, class and profession is pretty much the same thing.

An occupation or career: ?One of the highest compliments a child can pay a parent is to choose his or her profession? (Joan Nathan). An occupation, such as law, medicine, or engineering, that requires considerable training and specialized study. The body of qualified persons in an occupation or field: members of the teaching profession. An act or instance of professing; a declaration. An avowal of faith or belief. A faith or belief: believers of various professions.
Class is a much clearer term.

Lol. How could any of those other definitions fit into what we're talking about?

I forgot to mention: those are the definitions for profession >>
But at any rate, profession isn't a widly used term for this sorta thing(I've never heard it used before, anyway). Just sayin', class makes things much easier to understand.
