it really depends...on 2D rpg's like quest...HAS to be turn based, I can't stand games like PW o.o anything else I tend to prefer real time, though I have to say I do still love all Final Fantasy games and quite a few other turn based RPG's >.>

I have to say turn based because 1)It's the system for most classics and 2) Most of the real time combat systems used today suck

Not that i have no preference to one, just dont feel like voting because there is no option for both.

For the most part, the turn-based RPG battle style has been my preference for a long time. But I have found recently that I enjoy some real-time battle style games much better. This is, of course, with obvious exception to Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, and concurrently, Diablo II suxors. But real-time has the greatest potential.

real-time you need skill and reflexes for...turn-based you need none of that, so there's a lot more honor and glory in winning a game with a real-time based system

Turn-Based gives rise to greater strategy. Turn Based is my vote. I do think that I should have said this in my original post.

How does Turn-based mean more strategy? Wouldn't real-time seeing as how you have to think on your feet and your enemy is constantly moving.... rather than sitting there waiting for it to attack?

When you have time to think, you have a greater ability to make a better action. actions on the fly rely on on hope or on knowledge that the action is 100% sure to work. As games of strategy like chess have taught us, good strategy takes some time. Real time requires good judgement, but i don't think you can make brilliant tactical moves in a few seconds.

Turn based gets bloody annoying. One battle can only be fought so many different ways. With Real Time, on the other hand, features like running up a wall and slicing an enemy in half come into play. I won't say there is more strategy in either, but I think Real Time is way more fun.
