Instead of filling it have it empty when exp is gained...there fore noobs won't get as confused! Grin can also add a % bar that goes into -

Whats the Difference? Filling it or emptying it? Noobs are still gonna see it the same. And in my opinion the percentage will only complicate things...

Actually, I think the percentage idea is good.  Might even help when ur in an exp hole, and r wondering how much until u see the bar come back.

Honestly, I think if someone can't figure out the bar thing, they have no business in front of a computer anyways!  lol

Why dont you ask a noob what he thinks?

*waits for somone to ask....*

*crickets chirping in the background*

ok fine i will just blurt it out. I started a month ago and the bar is not complicated at all. What still confuses me to this day is the EXPTNL. I realize thats the exp i need to lvl, but theres no indication on what it started with, so if its at 142353, i have no idea weather thats good or bad. now say it said somting like this:

EXPTNL: 142343/200000 (24.8%) *percent is a guess i dont have a calc handy*

that would tell me what the exp needed is, what it started at the beginning of the lvl, and what percent done i am of lvling. This would not be hard to code, and i think would be a lot easier for noobs to figure out.

Long post, lots of blabbering, hope it gets done Smiley

Whatabout a colour change for the EXP bar? Red means you are in a hole and Blue means you are normal?

I kinda agree with that. I understand what you mean, but let me explain what I mean.

When you're EXP Bar is Empty(Or you are in the hole as of version 4.3) it looks like this:
_____________________
|____________________|
----------- White -------------

Now, lets say you have 1/2 your level's EXP TNL.
_____________________
|__________|_________|
----- Blue ----- --- White ---

Now, lets say you die, therefore needing 150% of what would be normal Exp for that level. (This is where I think it differs from Rui's idea)
_____________________
|__________|_________|
---- White ---- ---- Red ----

Then as you gain more experience the White covers up the Red(As the Blue covers up the White in your Normal Level EXP)

This would also make it easier to keep track of how far away from leveling you are, according to the Bar.

Personally I think this would rectify many problems new players may have with thinking they don't get their Exp. It is a clear visual of how much Exp they need.

Hmmmm....
*scratches scalp*
*falls off chair*
*gets up, stretches legs, stokes the fire, feeds the fish, pats the dog, and sits back down again*

not a bad idea, let me just say that it would be rather confusing to noobs. I still think that having a percentage showing would be a lot better than anything else. Like if you need 100k exp to lvl, you have 100% left to go
then you die... *ouch* and you need 150k to lvl, you have 150% to go
the you lvl hardcore and bring it down to 50k exptnl... you have 50% to go
then you have like 1 exptnl... you have like .000000% to go... you know your next battle you lvl up

the color thing may work, combine it with a percentage, and it would be killer

what if you die, say, 6 times in a row.... ya it happened to me... my exptnl went from like 100k to like 800k... my exptnl would be at like 800% to go... red 8 times... would get confusing...

see what im getting at. I guess the solution is dont die 6 times in a row... but i still say it would be confusing to noobs, but easy enough to get used to. Overall a good idea, could be made work with my idea... so i like it even more Cheesy

you could have writing on the bar "Death penalty of: EXP"

sometimes the simplest way is easier to understand?

-%120

. . . blast

maybe somthing along the lines of...

EXPTNL: 120% -20/100
EXPTNL: 100% 0/100
EXPTNL: 75% 75/100

of corse its gonna be huge numbers, but somthing like that wouldnt be that confusing, would it?

I started 3 days ago.  And I agree with the statement above - if you can't understand it, you have no business in front of a computer.  I truly think it's simple enough.

Yea, but I'd still like to see the percentage too, cause I'm always wondering how much longer I'll be in the exp holes, before I can see the bar again.
