Welcome to the Roleplay forum!  I'm going to simply cut to the chase and set down some ground rules.  So long as you operate within these simple rules, you'll be more than fine!

1.  Creativity abound! - We welcome you to play here, and hope that you have a great time!  Of course, this would be rule number one.  Let NOTHING squash your creative drive.  Please don't ever think that there's something too off-the wall, or goofy!  Enjoy yourself.

2.  Keep it PG-13, please -  With rule #1 in mind, we still ask that you keep things PG-13.  No exceptions to this.  This is a family game, and open to players of all ages.  Parents play this game.  Children play this game.  Remember this, please.

3. Let people know what's going on - When you finish up your posting, try to leave some sort of marking to let people know whether it's open for any person to respond, or you're waiting for a specific one.  Myself? I prefer to do something like:

<Shiris> if I want Shiris specifically to post next or... <Shiris/Open> to indicate if I'd PREFER Shiri-chan to follow-up, but it's really anybody's game or.... <OPEN> if anybody is welcome to jump in!

4.  Let people know what type of story it is! - If it's sci-fi, and you're setting that particular story, let people know.  If you want players to describe what character they're playing, let people know.  Set the story up the way you want to.

5. KEEP IT LITERATE!!- We're not asking anybody to be Rhodes Scholars here, or Nobel Laureates.  However, make your postings intelligent, and take the effort required that everyone can enjoy the story, regardless of how silly the subject matter.  Try to keep netspeak to a minimum... it's a couple of extra keystrokes to turn plz into please, and ppl into people.

6.  Some changes since before: This is a change from before, and I'm thinking that it's perhaps best if the mods step it back a notch, if you start a story, it's yours to handle as you wish.  We only ask that you never do the following:

a. Create or establish stories involving/describing illicit activities, or seriously deviant criminal behavior: (rape, etc.) These stories will be removed without notice, and you will be subject to discipline by the Quest staff
b. Discriminate against any player for any reason
c. Use this space to attack or flame another player

-----

Addendum:

Of course, as always happens, there can and probably will be changes along the way. If there's something new here, you might want to read it!

1. A forums questions and suggestions thread has been created and the debate on this thread regarding rules has been moved there. The reason for this is that we would like to continue inviting community input specific to this forum, but leave the rules thread specifically for active rules.

2. From here forward, thread creators will be responsible for setting up guidelines for their individual threads. Think these through, please. Whatever guidelines you set, we will moderate for. If you say one post per day, and we see that second post from a person, it will get taken out. Make sure your guidelines are something you can work with, when starting each thread. Players will be required to act in accordance with these guidelines. Make sure you are specific to what your priorities for your thread are. If you are going to require specific things from your players, let them know. Moderators will act only in accordance with guidelines set, and general forum guidelines. No post will be deleted/modified/moved merely because the 'Threadmaster' doesn't like it's placement. So really, when starting a thread, know what type of play you are inviting.

3. Thread creators will need to contact either Tina or Jackhammer in regards to any instance on their thread that requires moderation, if we haven't been to it yet. We are both committed to spending a good bit of time with this forum, but you may catch things before us. It shouldn't be hard to reach us, should the need arise.

4. Spam will not be tolerated on any role play thread. I am using 'spam' to encompass and include anything that does not advance the play on that thread. Off topic or out of character commentary needs to be reserved for appropriate threads. We will delete posts that interrupt the flow of play on each thread.
