REMOVE POSTCOUNTS

yes thats right! you will no longer have people going head to head in order to achieve a higher post count! totally remove the postcount status,on board AND on user profile!!

imagine it people, no more cluttered crap and obvious uneeded posts about crap and topics going off topic due to those extra precious 3 posts that lead to 100 off topic remarks! dont give me "oh but they would be that cluttered anyway"

LIES the only reason you mass spammers spam if for one reason and one reason only HIGHER POST COUNT, those 500+ numbers make you feel all warm and tingly inside, so for all those sane people who agree with me, post on here!

I'm already brutally hated, don't care, and am with Bel! hehe

Post count = useless!

Just an opinion.

I'm gonna have to say I'm quite partial to this idea as well.  It shouldn't be the post count that gets the attention on these forums, it should be each individual post itself, a post that has meaning.

exactly, think about it, im still waiting for a legit reason from the defending side, no offense dhite but that wasnt really an argumentative statement, I know for a fact if postcounts didnt exist and someone posted theyre stupid comment everyone would be on them in an instant "was that really needed?" rather than "omg like yeah tottaly" (adding onto spammage to up theyre postcount leading in an arise of more spam..)

*thinks as intelligent as Bel's arguement is, he should be packing*

But in all seriousness, it is a valid point, Bel. And what ronin said was right too.  At least in my opinion.

I'm curious as to what reasons to have the post count are?

It never occurred to me that I really don't know what it's for till now! lol

theyre just numbers..normally on most forums its a battle scar of dignity to have a high postcount, however, if you achieve it by spamming needless crap over and over..its more of a showoff thing, to say "heeey look at me, Im a 3 digit wonder!"

on a place such as this where evidently a postcount is a VERY bad thing, its just common sense to remove it..

and Ive packed everything, I just need to buy a coat/presents

Well, I voted no, because, for some reason, other then Bel's, I like to know how many posts I have.  Not sure why, but it's just something I like.  So, if you do get rid of them, can you at least put how many posts the person has in their profile for their own viewing?

hell yes it will, spam feeds off spam, that leads to ultimate spam, which leads to damn why even bother cleaning up the forums anymore its that out of control..

if you contain it, what do they have to feed off of? nothing..obviously,it would be a good idea to create ONE THREAD to chat in, rather than having every single thread turn into a can on spam faster than you can say "damn was that post even required, it has absolutely no relevence to thi--WHOA LOOK AT HIS POSTCOUNT!"

and zare, you are right, if there was a way so people could see theyre OWN postcount on theyre OWN profile, with no public access, then that also would be fine!

I think I had suggested removing the postcount within the first couple weeks, LOL.

Full support here....if MR/Brandon wants to muck through the code for it.

I didnt see it shiris, but damn that was in the first couple of weeks, look at it now..trying to find any usefull information, and a topic that is on topic is like trying to find a needle in an on fire haystack the size of china while midgets with railguns hunt you down

I really cant think of any bad points here, I know some people are thinking "but I love my high postcount!" as much as I hate to say it, if you think that, yes, you are spammer and in turn LIKE having a high postcount and making it higher, which in turn, is needless crap

also, if this comes into effect it will make everyone feel like an equal, think about it, rather than looking at someones postcount and going "wow they must be popular", and looking at someone elses imformative post with a lower post count and thinking otherwise

now imagine that without postcounts..isnt it better? the informative non spammer gets more respect, rather than the spamming spammer

i say that even without the post counts you will still get a lot of spam, especially if people get bored and are on at the same time, and then spend a lot of time replying back and forth on every thread one of them posts on until they finally give up and leave the forum.
all i see it doing is giving people one less excuse to use for making so much spam. (they can't say they made all the posts just to raise their post count with no post count there)

But see, then you're not encouraged to go in every thread just to say "olol that's an old thread" for no reason.  If it's conversational and reasonably relevant, it's not spam.

Plus, you have fewer people that get their panties in a wad accusing other people of actually conversing in the forums just to increase their post count, and more incentive to post in order to participate.

I can tell you now, the number one reason for spam is the damn postcount, hell youve even MADE threads about it, just to contend..however it didnt just stay in that one thread,it spread to them all like a plauge, you have even ADMITTED to posting in dead threads just to get your post count up..its all fun and games, buts it gone far enough, it has to end here

any hoy what you just said is exactly whats happening now, isnt it? it just gives LESS incentive to do so, with no post count, because you have nothing to show for it, if you continue to spam youll just look like a moron and shall eventually get banned from forums

I disabled postcount in the RP, Tavern and trading thread for now.
The mods are here to prevent the spamming on other boards.
(and double posts like Shiris does lol) Cheesy

I'm not sure about removing it ... there's places in here which are here just to typ nonsence in
it's fun sometimes
And if 1 of those funthings is postcount ... so be it

Bel, if they are spamming the RP thread it is not harming me. I abandonned that thread long ago, unable to keep up with reading posts Smiley
Does it harm you in any way?
Do you want to post there or? .... and is what they do, playing that RP not exactly what it is meant for?
I've seen RP forums with people who had over 10K posts ....

If I want to be moderated really hard I'll spam a MS forum somewhere Smiley

No, we don't prevent double posts because rules against double posts are retarded.

Anywho, with regards to postcounts being fun....then it maybe could be limited to, y'know, a forum dedicated to that?? I'd think the only place that'd be good for postcount raising would be the tavern, since it's the general chat forum....since we do have the insane post battles and whatnot there.
