Way to go tressel! Turns out he lied to the NCAA during the December investigation as well as withheld information for 8 months.

I expect the NCAA to make his suspension match the other 5 players once their investigation is done.

So now tressel has cheater (MO), weasel, and liar on his resume.

Impressive, I think all 3 are requirements to attend that school in ohio!

I expected this, he was told by a federal attorney to not disclose information on the federal drug case, if he did so he could be facing federal backlash and not NCAA. Hardly is he cheating, in no way did they enhance their playing ability.

Have you actually read the e-mails yourself?

The first e-mail makes NO mention of confidentiality and tressy replies, "I'll get on it ASAP"

The first mention of confidentiality is in the 2nd e-mail, 2 weeks later.

He had TWO FULL WEEKS with no warning to not disclose.

HE CHOSE TO PLAY PLAYERS HE KNEW WOULD BE INELIGIBLE IF HE REPORTED WHAT HE KNEW.

You really are still defending him after this??

12 other coaches have committed a violation of rule 10.1 , the one tressy is guilty of.

11 resigned or were fired.

Go ahead and keep drinking your kool-aid, tressy may keep his job, but there are a minimum 50% odds that the NCAA is going to:

1. Vacate all the wins from 2010 played by ineligible players. (ALL OF THEM)

2. Suspend tressel for 6 months or 1, maybe even 2 years.

3. Add another MAJOR violation of failing to promote an atmosphere of compliance.

4. Increase his fine up to 10 times.

I'm not just pulling these out of my ass, you really need to read ALL the e-mails that were released. The entire media, including half of ohio, is seeing this for what it is and destroying the credibility of the sweater vest that he has spent so much time and effort to portray.

Youngstown NCAA investigation - Tressel pleads ignorance

Clarett NCAA investigation - Tressel pleads ignorance

TAT 5 initial explosion - Tressel pleads ignorance

April e-mails released showing Tressel wasn't ignorant of the issues when he said he was - Tressel pleads ignorance

See any pattern? EVERYONE ELSE DOES.

Hope you enjoyed your time in the sun.

Yeah our Bball is just finally getting over the sanctions from the 90's (Fab 5 on ESPN's 30 for 30, tonight, March 13th at 9pm) Your "#1" team needed a buzzer beating 3 from prayer-ville to beat us last time we met, how soon you forget...

I do get up in arms over this, one of the main reasons being the ENORMOUS loads of shit I took from fans of that school in ohio over "stretch-gate". I had to hear how horrible any major NCAA violation was and how tressy would NEVER do shit like that and ran a tight ship!

Now that school in ohio has shown itself to be just as corrupt, if not more so, than all the schools it claims to be above.

Fans of that school in ohio don't even get any ketchup with those words, you get to eat them RAW. Wink

I LOVE how you always try and hate on Ohio State, I think it is more envy than anything. Either way, I think it's ridiculous that this is even an issue, they sold their property but the NCAA says they can't. Anyways, I could understand you being so bent out of shape if these players were somehow given items or money to play for OSU, or even took something that made them better at playing. I could understand if this were a state/federal law, but for god's sake it is just a minor NCAA ruling. Also, our Bball team beat Mich 68-64, 62-53, 68-61 None of those required a prayer shot.

I "try"? hahaha no man there is no try. that school in ohio is known the world around for having one of the most offensive fan bases in the world. You guys drove Herby out of town for crying out loud, one of the biggest homer's ever to walk the earth. You guys are swimming in your own pool of shit that has been filled by everything that came out of your mouth's over the last 30 years and NOW IT'S TIME TO EAT.

Record:  UM 57 - tsio 43 - ties 6

Big 10 Titles: UM 42 - tsio 34

National Championships: UM 11 - tsio 7

Please tell me wtf there is to be envious of tsio of? Michigan has, and always will be, a more respected and recognized name the WORLD over and it has pissed off suckeye fans forever. I understand the inferiority complex you guys have down there, I just think it's funny that you all don't see it.

As far as them selling property, that is NOT the issue. The issue is that your "esteemed" head coach clearly knew an NCAA rule and lied as well as withheld information that he knew would get them suspended. That is a MAJOR violation, any way you try to spin it. I have 0% doubt in my mind that if the role's were reversed you would be screaming how great jimmy was and he would never do something so out of character like lying to the NCAA.

Everyone outside of tsio in the nation is LOVING this, because you guys always have presented yourselves as above breaking rules like this, despite doing so over and over, but this time tressy is nailed cold. TIME TO PAY THE PIPER.

*edit* my bad on the buzzer beater, you guys were up 66-64 with 12 secs left in your 68-64 win, it was Wiscy that needed the prayer 3 shot to beat us.

I thought tressy was worried about interfering in a federal investigation and that's why he didn't tell anyone about the e-mails?

http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/sports/stories/2011/03/25/tressels-emails-were-forwarded.html?sid=101

More lies from tressy come to light, that makes 3 total instances now that are documented that he either lied to the NCAA or lied to that school in ohio about what he knew.

On a possibly related note, Urban Meyer is reportedly buying a nice home in an upscale Ohio neighborhood. Tressy's day's may very well be numbered in ohio now, despite all the claims against him losing his job.

This investigation is only going to get better and better. Smiley

WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!!!

New allegations of tattoo trading dating back to 2002 are out from Sports Illustrated. tsio heard of the story coming out and that's why tressy flew back from vacation in Florida to meet with school officials. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/magazine/05/30/jim.tressel/index.html?eref=sihp&sct=hp_t11_a2

So long vestgate! So long 10 year run of cheating and doing anything possible to win. Here's hoping you hire a RESPECTABLE coach who isn't in the middle of an NCAA investigation (like tressel was when he was hired) and bring some respectability back to the greatest rivalry in all of sports. Who knows how many wins might be vacated once the investigation is complete?

Currently? Yes. Once the official NCAA ruling comes down? Probably all of last season, since they have proven tressy knew in april before the season started, he played 5 STARS that he knew would be ineligible. I really don't see them keeping last season, or the first bowl win over the SEC. Back to 0-9 all time (I'll let you look up Michigan's record all-time vs. the SEC)

This whole week is like Christmas! How quickly the tables turn, one of the biggest falls from grace EVER in college football, or really any sport.

that school in ohio now has the distinct honor of having TWO high profile head coaches leave the program in disgrace and shame, only 33 years apart.

And for everyone who would say "Hayes lost his temper but he wouldn't cheat!" Remember that up until 1983 you could pay players and give them extras if you wanted. Hayes had a group of tsio alum called "The Frontliners" who went out in front of him to all the recruits, greasing them up for him. He wasn't the only one of course, but realize this is a different game today.

TD:  What's with all the hatred for OSU?  The Big10 needs to stick together in these hard times.....  God I can't believe we're going to be bowl ineligible and lose recruits....we're screwed!  I'll guess I'll have to start following the Cleveland Browns again or move....

I'll tell you what is with all the hatred for them, I have respect for the rest of the Big 10.

1. Every fan of that school, as well as players, coaches, alum, etc. have been claiming for years that THEY are the exception to the "everyone cheats" rule, despite mo clarrett in 02 and troy smith and the basketball's major sanctions in 2006 and tressel's record of violations at youngstown.

2. The insistence of using THE in front of the name of the university. It is seriously super arrogant and pompous. Name one other college that uses THE that isn't followed by "University of"? THE o-lie-o state university send the image of someone with their nose up in the air every time I hear it.

3. The reputation of some of the horrible behavior from the fans from that school (yes every school has nutty fans but they are KNOWN for being among the worst and most arrogant and ready to fight) is its own story.

4. I grew up watching the years of the legit war between the two schools, and I've had a sick feeling in my stomach ever since tressel got there. I knew then he tainted the program and I now consider the previous 10 years as a sad state and missed chance to see what could have been some great football if both teams had been playing on the up and up.

5. I AM A MICHIGAN FAN. =D

I really hope they can clean up their act and get back to legitimacy, only then can they start to try to earn some respect. Promoting a guy who was working side by side with tressel while he was breaking the rules to coach the team for an entire season doesn't get off to a good start with me though. He may be clean, but how the hell do you know?

I think everyone has to go. President, AD, compliance office, every coach on the team. Bring in someone squeeky clean (NOT Meyer, who faced problems with sanctions at florida) and rebuild the program with some integrity. Cooper may not have been able to beat Michigan, but he had class. That's what is missing from tsio and that's what it needs to stop being hated so much.

Ooh! I know! I know how many wins will be vacated! It's zero, right?

LIKE I SAID, o-lie-o state decided to vacate the entire 2010 season along with their bowl game win (the first ever against the SEC, now they are 0-9 again). So 12-1 record is vacated.

The NCAA hasn't even ruled yet, expect scholarship reductions and a postseason bowl ban to follow. Bank on it.

Also, after vacating last season and it's share of the Big 10 championship, that school in ohio is no longer tied with Michigan with 6 straight Big 10 Titles. That ALL TIME RECORD belongs EXCLUSIVELY to Michigan again. Smiley

It's a good summer to be a Michigan fan...

I don't think I had any kids before the age of 14 or so, and it's hard to check on all of them when you're hiding out and ducking a number of paternity cases, but I think my oldest few kids would only be in high school now. What little scamps! I wonder if I have any grand kids!
