First and foremost, hello everyone I just stumbled upon Quest while I was being lazy at work.
Of course the server is currently down (it was up for a minute there but went down again). so I thought I would hit up the forums (read them up during lunch).  I saw most of the guides currently posted are rather old updates which could mean nothing has changed since then, or just no one has taken the time to update them.

I read through the guides and class info on warriors and mages, and the one that caught my eye which had little detail written about it was the shield mage.  Many comments said they were useless, and that may be the case, I was wondering if anyone could elaborate more on them than what the guides provided.  I typically like the longevity classes, dont mind taking longer to kill something if it means i'm substantially harder to kill.  So if the shield mage isnt what I am looking for I am open to suggestions for what might fit my bill.

Thanks

Server should be back up.  It looks fine so not sure what happened there.  And yes, I think the wiki and the manual are badly out of date.  Your best bet is to read the change log here: http://questrpg.org/download/version_history.txt

Well, sad to say that all the mage guides and guides in general are woefully out of date. The best way to decide on a build is to ask some of the people in game for suggestions.
