Given the amount of different builds, can we have a 2-4 week discount to try out some different builds? A mil would be enough given everyone's current level I think. Smiley

How about along the same lines but instead of lvl dependent its skill points dependent. When i reset I am generally only moving my wep skill, the other points I put right back where they were.

no, we want people to be careful and deliberate with each and every point.

I do deliberate, I'm just saying that for example- at lvl 250 i have 500 skill points. I find a new wep i want to use, i wish to move 250 of those points from my old wep skill to the new one, the other 250 im perfectly happy where they are. I only want to pay to move the 250, not all 500

right: weapon skills as they are now only serve the purpose of segmenting demand in the market for combat weapons at high levels.
Their intended purpose is to provide additional technique/attack/spell differentiation through different attacks becoming available as you level. This doesnt happen but its getting close to becoming a reality.

In the long run, remove the cost of resetting and we lose the result. All weapons become fully interchangeable.

I agree that in the current situation it makes more sense to be able to learn/unlearn weapon skills. But in the long run your build will be more so built around the weapon type of choice. I don't like coding non-trivial features into the game knowing the long-term goal would be to rip that feature out.

how about making the cost of reset dependant on the number of skill points to be reset.  we should also put a minimum level to keep people from using it a lot early on.  or maybe some pretty big penalty for doing something.  maybe we have it so that you lose a few skill points by doing so.  it would be a big deal for beginners and dont matter too much to those who are high level and those who level a lot (ie will be hbigh level if you give them a little time).

If you want people to be careful when putting in skill, you need to finalise the skill tree. You need to have an application where people can PLAN out their skills before hand. There needs to be an update to the wiki where the skills are listed, their maximum skill range etc. As almost 90% of the data on the wiki is for the OLD quest, very, very outdated.

I want a reset, but it's 5mill per. And frankly, quite expensive for the very first reset.

The first reset should be free, then any subsequent reset will cost more. Second reset will cost 100k, third will cost 1mill, and then 5 mill. Capping at 5 mill.

I like that...

I'm softening on skill resets... its very true that we don't have any way for players to get a true, concrete sense for the skills other than trial and error, or extensive calculation. In the face of that fact I don't think we justify the amount of firmness I've been advocating..

I prefer your first idea, Dlorak, but I see the logic in the number of times used like Quincy suggested.  either way is fine for me, I just want it known i prefer Dlorak's first idea.  Can we get on this ASAP.  I need a reset NOW.

what we'll do is...

1. use that chart I've posted above. It was already coded in anyways.
2. for your first puchase, knock a 0 off. So 4000 becomes 400. 5mil becomes 500k.
3. for your second purchase, divide by 5.  4000 becomes 800, 5mil becomes 1mil.
4. for your third purchase, divide by 2.
5. for your 4th+ purchase, full price.

So thats two deep discounts, one at half price, then an expensive but do-able price from there on out.

EDIT: y'know.. even more discounts doesnt hurt. I want builds to be explored, not cut them off... I've really been convinced, I'm glad this thread came up.
first reset: divide the chart by 10.
second reset: divide the chart by 9.
third reset: divide the charty by 8
...
you get the idea.
...
eighth is 1/3 prce.
Ninth is 1/2 price.
tenth is full price
