fing is right though, i did mean a one time only free stat moving , cause at 1 mil a point, only the top 5 (not counting jouser) would have enough money to move 100 pts and in most cases they'd probably want to move more than that. i mean even 20th place on the list (10 days old, but still) was for only 16 mil.

man thats so far off. don't bring that garbage information in here. I'm level 170 and I have 16mil.

Garbage? look at the gold lists, 20th place has 16 mil... You act like people can re-stat their characters with this. I have 500 mil, even moving 1000 points wouldnt "re-stat" my char. The point we're trying to make is that had the formulas been what they are now changed to everyone would have built their characters totally differently. People just want a chance to change their char to what they would have been had this been the formula the whole time. Even 10th on the gold list, 35 mil, if they wanted to spend every last piece of gold moving stats(which nobody would want to do) they could move 70 points, which does absolutely nothing.

Wouldn't the easy thing to do to re-stat chars just be to have a player wipe?  I mean almost every major change that has happened in quest has come with a player wipe if the game mechanics where changed enough.

yeah, i took the amounts from the server created top 50 lists, so its not like im lying about how much gold was listed on the list. if the game worked the same way it does now as it did when we created our characters, then most people would have build their characters differently, enough that even if everyone had 250 mil (which is hard to do since gold per monster has been lower than it used to be for a few version now) the only people that would be able to restructure their chars the way they like it would be characters below lvl 150, 200 at the most assuming they already had half their stats where they wanted them.  gold is a lot harder to get, and asking us to pay 500k for each point to reorganize our stats becasue the formula was suddenly changed on us is ridiculous .  you might as well have done another wipe if u were going to change the formula so drastically.

Like i said, instead of wiping we're being forced to make new characters anyways.

I don't want to argue here. I've salvaged some contrcutive thoughts from this discussion and that is always helpful. I'm a lil scared to post anything to this thread tho... Hostile! And no one commented on the formulas or discussion of the min mob damages and formulas...   Sad

I must say thats this is not too bad now... I have given it some time to settle in and i quite like this build. Sure its not perferct and i'm sure that we'll come up with suggestions on what can be done to improve it but i don't see that all this complaining is helping. I mean i've only just got back on and yes it is much harder to lvl now. And yes i can't watch tv while slaying monsters but then thats to much fun eh., this is going to be a much better game. There have just been a whole lot of changes. Learn to adapt people!

Having no idea what the formulas are makes it hard for me to discuss them. As far as min mob damage goes my opinion is be gone with it, no budging from me on that one but meh, thats just me.

I have to agree.. the min damage is horrible.... even with 18k hp getting smacked for 600+ is not fun.

Dlorak, are you implying that a good dex char will be able to dodge these attacks? sufficently well enough to be able to survive out in noslin? from what i can determine min damage from monsters is going to make it nearly impossible to get into fighing mobs of 1K+ lvls

As a 3dex a level character I can tell you this, DEX is really not that useful anymore.  The usefulness of DEX had a sharp decline once 100% first hits and multiple first hits against monsters that actually MATTER was changed.  DEX as it stands was more useful when all it did was gurantee first hit, but that was due to the fact that HP effected DMG dealt which was also removed.

this thread does seem to be getting a little heated.. cheer up everyone, it's almost christmas! Smiley

My view on damage as a whole now is that if mobs are going to have a set amount of minimum damage they do no matter what, then damage dealt by the mob has to decrease as it takes more damage, like the olllldddd version. I just don't see any way to level enjoyably with that kind of damage coming in non-stop. If the damage is going to stay constant then it's either wayyy too high or needs to be removed. Formula wise, I dunno how to interpret that. :p

With the newer additions to the game I don't know how reduced damage would balance out, but I used to really enjoy the reduced damage of the old version. It made sense realistically and allowed players to explore a bit more with enough pots and zerks, although exploring is easy enough now for 200 mil. Smiley

I haven't really leveled more than 30 mins in the newest version so maybe I haven't given it enough of a chance yet, but that's my initial impression.
