Heh, pretty big bug if you ask me...

So from the front page it turns on for like, 1 second then everything dies...

Whats the stats for your power supply, mobo, graphics card, ram, etc. What sort of technology are we dealing with? Something like that sounds like it could be the mobo gave out, or if its an oldass power supply that could have gone... even with a surge protector. How old (new?) of a computer was it?

if you strip the computer and try making a new one, what sort of parts might you be able to scavenge?

And biting the bullet style, how much green can you lay down to replace the doorstop you have now?

hah..

a 939 board with an AMD 3000+.

I took it in and found out the power supply is indeed broken (on ONE pin...uhg). The dude suggested because my fans won't spin anymore (even when hooked up to a working power supply) that its likely the motherboard too: I'm inclined to agree but still something doesnt quite feel right there. Despite my uneasy feeling I'm investing in a new machine this week. I'll salvage the memory, the video card, the harddrives, misc PCI cards and the case. Forking out cash for a 400W powersupply, motherboard and CPU. And about the cost:bling bling, money aint no thing. Cheesy
