As the words about new worlds go round, how about paying to increase the distance you can walk?
Or pay to enter a land ... one time or every time.

Also still in favor for a bunch of teleports in a cave that bring you for a amount of gold to a place
Llirrem Rothar entrance
Rothar Velgrad entrance
Rothar Noslin entrance
Velgrad Noslin entance
Noslin top mountain
Noslin Dungeon

Maybe some more

been suggested a few times. Shot down.

people dont want to need to pay to go places... But i say screw that. Make them pay to use the short way... like llirrem to rothar, theres two ways to get there, one short way and one going to the far top left corner of the map. Same for noslin. Make people pay to go the short way, and allow them to walk around the long way.

Oh i remember why this was shot down... people with crap connections who get DC'd all the time dont wanna pay ten times in 4 minutes.

Actually paying for entering every time does sound like a good idea.  50K for Rothar, 300k for Velgrad, and 700k for Noslin.  Now with this would cost 350k - 750k depending on where you may want to go.  This may not seem like much to some if any, but to start fighting inflation this is a good idea.  Now this idea really wouldn't shine until after a wipe, due to the fact it would help prevent inflation as opposed to trying to reverse the effects, which people need to keep in mind for most idea's that get suggested.

at 750k i couldnt fight in noslin.... it takes me about 50% of a lvl to get that much and im rarely on long enough to earn that. So I suppose I could fight there, id just be losing more gold then im gaining the majority of the time.

well see thats the thing, teleporting costs should be about the same if you port to the front enterance of that land as if you walked there, so if your going halfway to the top of noslin you can get there faster, and its not going to cost much more...

and it shouldnt be too much, i mean, some of us walk back and forth a lot, and i think you should be able to pay through your chest bank, like a debit card, no need for the cash on hand (same for the teleport costs, i get annoyed needing to make sure i have 6 mill cash on me every time i try to teleport)

As for disconnecting... I know lots of people when this was first mentioned used wireless or dialup that was unrelyable, so if you get DC'd, make the timeout longer, like 5 mins, and when you try to connect and your ghosted on the server, make it log you back in where your ghosted. No waiting, No need to pay if you get DC'd, and if you want to go to town just log off normally and relog.

How about getting rid of warping prices all together or making them a flat 10m.  Now, you then add a new item which would have the same drop rate as LvL 8 rares that would be able to be used to warp you to your save point.  The price of these would depend on the players themselves this way.  It would also force some people to walk/pay tolls to go to lands if they did not have the warp.  Now some people may say these would go the way of rares and saturate the market.  Well that would be true if the item itself could be reused which it won't.  One time use per item, and that would then make it a consumable good (meaning once the item is used it then no longer exist forcing you to get a new one to replace it.)

lol nobody... NOBODY is going to pay 10M to get anywhere...

I train at the furthest point (allmost) and it costs under 6 mill, and i think im about the only one who constantly uses teleporting...

And if somone is teleporting somewhere in llirrem they cant afford 1m, let alone 10m.

As for items for teleporting... teleport potions might be pretty cool, add those to the list of charms i have been requesting since forever...

I also like the idea of more consumables, Perhaps teleport pots that have 10 uses, and you buy them for, what, 10m? And a chance of finding them off mobs... would be a sure sell for me.

The point for having it at an absurd price was so that people would want to rather use the items, and then the items them selves would have to sell for less then the warp for people to buy that would help stabilize the price and not allow people to get a monopoly on the item.

there's no use in implementing it if nobody will use it

Price has to be relevant

Payment for passing by.. I like it.
About how you get asked to pay... I'll try to use the cool NPC talking boxes and offer a "Yes, and always say Yes without asking me" option.

I think I'll implement this if we can get some agreement on pricing...
how bout:
Llirrem Rothar entrance - 5k
Rothar Velgrad entrance - 5k
Rothar Noslin entrance - 500k
Velgrad Noslin entance - 10k
Noslin top mountain - I dont think I can charge for that... The easy way for me to implement this is when we swap maps.
Noslin Dungeon - free?

Sora's 10M idea is to put a high roof on the cost of these teleporting items then let the free market work its magic from there with supply and demand. I don't think he's suggesting that the price will actually settle at 10M.
I like the consumable teleport potion idea... We don't have the framework for consumable items yet but it is an "on the list" idea fo sho.

So until then, I like chanrging as you cross maps. I'll see how it can get implemented and we can fiddle with the prices once its in.

OFFTOPIC:
As for items for teleporting... teleport potions might be pretty cool, add those to the list of charms i have been requesting since forever...
About those charms that you have been requesting since forever... (in a nutshell: we have equipment slots (hat, gloves, boots, leggings) that we can use to achieve the same thing)
Charms, aka 'not having a potion in battle in exchange for stat boosts' is a cool idea... However, people could still swap in and out the potion when they need it. And lets be honest, no one NEEDS to use the potion in PvM these days so the charm boils down to #1. a negligible hassle as you equip/unequip potions (if you use em at all) and #2. stat boosts. We already have other equip slots that aren't being used that will accomplish #2 as we add more hats/gloves/boots/leggings.
Also, because of the way we handle potions server-side (as a special piece of equipment that we delete when it gets empty) its not worth the effort for me to code non-usable non-deleting potions.
Definitely something worth revisiting if potions become a more prominent part of PvM.

what about teleportation spells? cost alot of money to learn, but you have them permanently, and you can learn different ones for different areas, along with a town teleportation spell

seriously, add tradeskills, they will sink your gold like quicksand

Ok first dealing with charms... Those were suggested long before there were boots, etc. If the same thing could be implimented with the item slots we have now, awesome. At the time we only had the three slots, so we worked with what we had...

As for the pricing, sounds good, Top of noslin should still be free as its a pain to get to, same for the noslin dungeon...

Consider it a "Road Tax". The roads have become rather abused as of late, and in an effort to keep them in top quality there has been the need to impliment a tax based on usage. Every time you use the roads you must pay a fee that goes to the restoration and general maintance of the roads we all have come to love.

Since the top of noslin, the noslin dungeon, etc. have no roads, they should be tax free. The long way to rothar should be free because, hey, its the long way, and for the new maps the ones you need to walk long ways through grass fighting mobs, those should be free, ones you can walk safely on a road to get to, those should charge.
