If decline stays automatic on, then the ability to PK might as well be removed Smiley

one problem abuse during pk tourney.....

Even thou I don't play I can't see any logical sense behind removing Decline.  Not everyone plays this game for PKing.  Yes it may make it more fun or interesting to you, but some people just wish to LvL without having to worry about someone coming up to them and attacking them.  This function allows for people who may have limited time to play each day get what they desire done without interference.  There is also, no reason in my eyes to remove auto decline from the point of login.  If people don't want to PK they don't if they do they would have turned it off.  Now being able to disable via F2 seems fair and logical for all.  Not sure who said it but a few have implied it, but PK is not a right of passage.  High LvL's PKing people who first start are just exploiting there lack of knowledge to boost there own Stats, nothing more and nothing less.

Ok, you need to look at my chars...

NOOBILATOR is a 3 str 2 hp char i made to lvl 800. Please, if you can think of any reason OTHER than PK for that build, let me know.

My current char, Jon_Deciple, is a 3+ int 2hp mage, made because lvling NOOBILATOR was taking too long. This char does over 400 PK damage.

What good are these chars if i cant PK anyone? And i know MB has a 3str2hp char that would be a waste if PK was removed.

Also HP builds, though we know they rock in PvP, are the anti PK char. Why would somone build them if there wasnt PK?

All that being said, it should be obvious that i have not one but two PK oriented builds rearing for action, and im not the only one.

If decline stays automatic on, then the ability to PK might as well be removed Smiley

That i must agree with. I know i should be the last one bitching about it, but people hiding against decline gets really old, especially when you spend many months building a char for PK.

one problem abuse during pk tourney.....

so somone goes AFK during a tournie... whoop de doo... So they get no kills, and take no damage... i dont see a problem...

Plus decline was made to not work with tags on, im sure a check could be put in for /AFK so it wont work in the caves. Its not going to be a problem.

Also i would like to see some higher lands no-decline areas, as once your high enough to fight there you should be able to deal with some PK every now and then.

Seems simple enough, but these kinds of places should be big! Llirrem kind of big!

If decline gets heavily removed for high level players, I'm leaving again.  That's a dealbreaker for me.

Just sayin'.  It's critical to the appeal of Quest for me, and always has been.  Required PK-based MMO's have always been lame, and it was refreshing to see a game that allowed you to take a break from that nonsense when you liked, and to hop back in if you wanted.  Just because you're high level doesn't mean you want to kill other people all the time or even ever.  And you're not required to, either -- that's the beauty of decline.

In my mind, a person's desire to not have to deal with pests while enjoying killing monsters or just wandering around should override another person's desire to kill other people.  Level does not matter.

Completely agree with Shiris.  What point is there to remove auto decline if they people you would now have access to kill just leave the game?  There is an even easier solution that involves no changing to the game or coding at all! Get ready for it, it is:

If you wish to PK TURN OFF DECLINE!

It's that simple, for all you that are complaining about decline simple turn it off the second you can.  You then have your player base to PK.  No reason you shouldn't do this seeing as you are in favor of removing the option all together anyways.  The game doesn't need to be changed to fulfill your selfish desire to kill players who want no part in that aspect of the game.  When I played I rarely had decline on at all.  This issue is no different then people complaining to QO's to ban people you could easily just have put on /ignore, but you choose not to use that function.  Your choosing not to turn off decline, or the people that want to PK at the least are.

My 2 cents:

Auto decline by default
F2 option to disable
My vote:

To protect noobs: Llirrem autodecline default unless turned off with F2
To abuse idlers: All other worlds - autodecline goes automaticly off when entered. Possible to turn on.

yours,
MB
To serve the hunters

Tongue

Could do both. Auto Decline for lillrem and all other worlds No auto Decline with an option to turn decline on. As far as getting rid of it completely. No way.

If we are concerned about Idle Abusers. Maybe a small script to pop them back into town or sign them off when no activity has been recorded on the character for a period of time.

In a way i agree with Shris... the ability to drop quest at a moments notice to (walk the dog, eat some food, bathroom / stretch break, smack a sibling for being an idiot, change the channle on the TV, tune the radio station to one that doesnt suck, recharge your iPod, sleep, extreme sidewalk dive, etc.) is a pretty good perk.

But i do miss the days of old when somone would log on and you could PK them before they remembered to turn on decline.

It seems the general consensus is that Llirrem is a peacfull place, and therefore PKing there should be against the LAW(L). Those who break the LAW(L) shall be punished.... or mocked.... or thrown overripe fruit at.... or something.

As far as the other lands, needing to manually hit decline when transfering from Llirrem to Rothar would be a task a few people forgot, and therefore allow for SOME Pk again...

Perhaps if/when new maps are added, there could be some maps with EXP / Gold / Drop bonuses, and those are Non-Decline lands, where others (of similar distances) allow decline, but dont have the bonuses. The option to choose if you want to chance a PK might be a suitable option?

That is a great idea that Jon just proposed IMO.  New maps where decline can not be turned on where DROP rate and gold is increased.  Have the lands mimic other lands EXP so that both sets of the play base can level at the same rate, but you get bonus for going to lands where you can be PKed.  They can be "alternate realms" that take place in the past, and since they take place in the place things that are rare now, are no so rare.

ummmm what? Thanks, i think...

Also, supposing new lands are had, new supers would come with those new lands... I would propose the drop rates for those new supers was decreased, so its harder to find them... Theres too many BoN's as it is...
