This might be of similar case. As far as I have checked i have not seen one exactly like this.
The error occurred when depositing gold into my bank. After receiving "Error: Bank deposit did not complete"(something or other) it looked still as if it deposited my gold. However upon moving away from bank and moving back on, it showed twice the deposit amount. This cannot be abused as far as I know because when you try to withdraw, it gives you nothing until you withdraw more than the half you didn't earn. When this happens the Withdraw/Deposit Textbox does not clear the amount as it should. If you try to leave as is it (wasnt keeping close enough track sorry) was when you doubly deposited then it shows you have negative half the double amount on your character. When I withdrew it back and relogged, I redeposited and it worked without fail. Rare error I believe.

This is caused by depositing non-updated gold, usually from repairs or the leveling bug where gold/exp (among others) would be reduced (and sometimes not updated, in the case of gold). Although many of the non-update bug situations should be gone, all you have to do is force an update. One way to do so, is to equip or remove an item.

The gold cannot be abused, the gold is not actually banked even though it shows an updated bank number after the error. If you were to die, the corpse would contain the true amount of gold that you had before the deposit (plus any additional battle's worth of gold) even if it displayed negative gold on hand.

It cannot be abused in any way as far as I know.

If the above method (forced update) doesn't solve the problem, let us know.
