Ok. Suggestion time. I'll have to post more in a bit because I don't have long where I am.

Quest is still, by far, the most fun to play online. To be honest, I don't really understand it. It's not that I don't have access to "higher level" games. I do, I just don't care. For some reason I always come back to Quest. Anyway, I'd like to see it running for a long time. So in effort to keep the gears rolling, I have a lot of ideas running.

The Economy
Getting old, yet? I have a few ideas that could use some review.

1. Complete Renewal.
Not many are for this idea, unless you're new. I don't like it myself, but the fact is, it would be effective. This is the institution of a character wipe. Not an actual deletion of everything, more like an automatic reset. You could keep the clans, but get rid of all items and leave only a small percentage of gold in the bank. Now here's a major problem with this idea. It could be argued that many older players would stop playing if this happened. Well, how many of those players still play very often anyway? Still, this idea may not be fair to all of them.

2. Item Wipe.
Instead of a full out reset on all characters, this would implement an item reset. All items in the bank, clans, and on hand would be wiped. In addition, the gold would be reset to a small percentage. Unfortunately, this is yet another drastic measure that could have negative effects on the community.

3. Storage Wipe
This is a less drastic approach to an item wipe. Basically all items (except pots that's not important) would get wiped from the clans and banks, as well as in the inventory of players (not equipped items). Concurrently, all gold would be reset to a percentage value. This would allow for a small refresh of the economy while allowing players to keep their equips. However, though this may help the economy, there would still be a large "elite" class consisting of those with super equips. But it is a big step in the right direction.

New Items
This one would take some work. But it would be nice if we had a few new items to play with, or possibly a revamped version of some of the old ones. You know, keep things fresh. Smiley

1. Item Modification.
In order to better balance the game, it could be cool to change the mods and raw #'s of most of the games rares and super rares. This could create a whole new array of demand for particular items, if implemented correctly. For all the rares, some major stat adjustments to certain items could help players to want to get different rares more, which could also help in the economic problem. And supers should change as well, but should not just go up in raw power as drastically as you move up to the "higher level" supers. Instead, there could be an array of effects determined by the place you obtained the super. This would create an onslaught of people who wanted to test out new supers, thereby making the demand go up.

2. New Items Altogether.
It could also be a good idea to add a few rares into the game. This would increase demand for rares, and also add a refreshment to the rarefinding scene. It's worth a shot, thought it may be needed to add an entirely new land. Probably a large task that would not be fun to take on. But it would be worth it in the end.

Classes Revisited.
This is not really a problem, but it's worth taking a look at. There usually isn't much variation in class builds except for a bold few who try very odd things. (I am one of those...heh..silly shield mage.)

1. One Time Stat Reset.
Ok. This is for all those who messed up on their stats at the beginning and don't want to reset their characters. There should be some way to reset your stats one time in order to prevent that annoyance.

2. Implementation of a New Stat
I think their should be one more stat added. This is not a good idea because of the time it would take to implement, but it would solve quite a few local issues. The new stat would be WIS or anything that deals with the resistance of magic. Here's why this would be helpful. Mages can't PvP. They should be able to fairly. A resistance, based on a percentage value, to magic would help to make spells less deadly in non PvE fighting. This, after all, was always the major argument against spells in PvP. (I do realize the effort it would take to change everything so that one stupid little stat could be added in, but it is something to think about.)

3. Class Titles
This is a simple little idea that could be fun for some people. It would be similar to a clan tag, but would appear above the name of a player on screen or something. Basically, there should be an NPC, new or existing, that gives you class titles for gold if you meet certain requirements. (Possibly the sprite witch, who could also do stat resets. It makes sense.)
This isn't really important, but it's a pretty cool idea.

some of these are some fair ideas, however for the time being i'm against a wipe just to fix the economy without bigger changes being made at the same time to maintain the fix.  i'd bet good money that a lot of people would jockey for the highest level for a good while.

lots of people doing lots of leveling over time = too much gold and too many items in clans

but to be specific, the item modification and new items seem like good ideas.  and the deleting all nonequipped items isn't so bad. after a week of play most people have been sold dirt cheap or given lvl8 rares.  if for a while noone has any to spare the value of all rares will be restored.  this is just a temporary fix unless rares start breaking(i said rares not super rares Wink)

Well, many of these ideas would have to work concurrently. As you said, you are against a wipe unless major fixes accompany it. What some of these ideas call for is just that: a major fix. The wipe would just be the icing on the cake, so to speak. Smiley
