TAX
« on: January 27, 2007, 02:17:46 PM »

Who's idea was this? ...
6,7 bill taken from the game

2 bill of that was mine
I don't even use it .. it's just being pretty there
What did it bring us? (Besides a annoyed Bat that sees his 9.000,000,000 broken now Sad )

The #2 and #3 in game for gold have about the same as me
so that's another 2 bill

meaning - 0,1% of the players payed 66% of the tax?

That's cool ... but only if there is something done with it
Otherwise civil wars will start Smiley

It's because we betrayed the LAWL.

We should protest by quitting.

Oh you mean how you abused a loophole and we didn't.  Grin

I find it amusing that both this "tax" was actually collected and the fact that noob can use that loophole scott free while everyone else gets they're money stolen. kthx

What gets me is that I never heard of the idea before, then the first time I see it is when it finally happens.

It may have been on the motd but who understands the logic behind it?

If you do, please post because I would love to hear it.

Who even reads the MotD? Smiley
And then again ... what's 3~4 days in a humans life?

But that is not the point here ...
Point is that I, just like Marky Mark, would like to know how this is supposed to help the game?

Well I just assumed that removing some gold from the swelling economy couldn't hurt.  Even if it did nothing beneficial could it have done any harm?

When new players are given gold and items they have no reason to continue playing.  There's no longer anything for them to play for or earn -- the challenge is gone for them.  The swelled economy just limits the ability to retain new players even more.

Veterans just complain when anything happens that could jeopardize their "immortal" status and then _some_ try and make almost "threats" that they won't play anymore if there's a wipe --- wahhh  Cry

Yes, exactly! Finely someone understands me!  I just got bored last week and decided to code up a ditty to collect taxes.  For some reason I foresee lots of players quitting Quest.  I'm not sure whats happening to me, I've made several questionable calls recently including unbanning Gungrave and sora, wanting to destroy weapons below 50 durability and now this tax.

Would it be to late to return the 15% to those who fill out the necessary paperwork and mail it in?

Well, seems I hit a nerve.

I disagree with you and off you go. Perhaps I should have been a little more respectful.

Better?

I stand by what I said, the tax served no purpose.  But then what the hell do I know.  It's your game, do whatever you want.

NOOOO Markus!! You didn't hit a nerve.  I really wasn't being sarcastic that time!  It's nearly true that "So basically no real plan and no real purpose was served."  I don't disagree with you.

I was just thinking that removing some gold from the economy would help something somehow....LOL

I have a great idea, let's remove ALL the gold and items from everyone and start again. We'll get it right this time because even though there weren't actually any changes made to prevent "inflation" or anything else for the economy it's ok because by lowering player's point values on a whim that they worked towards it will magically fix things. People won't be pissed, and even if they are they won't say anything. It's a win win situation.  Grin
