OK...i think there should be a training tower ,and like you said about the money thing bear05, people who are far in this game well be able to do that almost all the time with out stopping
Well i think to fix that part of the idea that the Training Tower stat point thing should cut off a a certain level maybe around 200 or something
i think the price should be around 1.5 mil or 2.0 that way newer people wouldn't get carried away with the idea and would spent 10mil to get like three or for stat points when they can train without paying
i think it well bring more people to the game if the had a safe place to start
as far as the older players, the one who have been there forever, if you enter the tower you would have decline off like in normal PKs you would lost you gold but no EXP
this well also prevent less wealthy people from using it to much I'm still working on the idea but this is a better explanation then the first

i don't know why you would give new players an advantage to just use money and get stat points when other players have earned theirs. $1.5-$2 million is very hard to come by for noobs and anything under $1.5 mill would make the points to easy to buy. I think this would limit the use to the point that it would just be a hassle to put into the game when Jouser or whoever could focus on something more valuable like fishing or maybe a new island *wink wink*

A better idea than a cutoff that would only disadvantage us that have played for more than a couple weeks. How about the price rises with your level and the level of the skill? The skill level would affect it more than the character level, so somebody with an alternate account can't just train forever. That way, a newcomer can pay a more manageable amount and the higher levels can pay something they can still earn without it being ridiculously easy. Besides, loading a melee with a super or level 8 first thing makes them ready for level fours right away anyways.

Why not limit the amount you can use it.

did i miss a page or somthing? what the heck are you talking about?
wait i found it.
Ok a few things... Noobs are poor. Simple as that. They cant afford a mill. Took me forever to make enough for a clan.
Noobs need to learn that they shouldnt fight harder mobs than they can beat.
Fact is, this would not work as a gold sink because noobs wont have the gold to use it.
And what happens when they reach lvl 200? they get booted, and bam, they die. Cus they dont know how not to die.
Sorry, im not hating or anything, its just i dont think this idea is very good. Sorry.

if it had an npc at the begining that could give a brief synopisis of the walk through,a little intro on char types(fighter, dex, mage, hybrid,ets...) that be nice, heck why not make it free but once you hit lvl10 you can't use it anymore.
thats enough to get the idea of how fights work and get some heal training in. this way newbs dont dig giant(for their lvl) exp holes and quit. by then theyll be able to fight better than lvl1s at least. this way maybe they can actually make a little money and buy some shop equipment and not have to beg as so many have thought they needed to.
let it give them gold, probably on the same ratio as other mobs, if it had 7 floors thatd be one for each lvl of mob in lillrem. if its such a safe place id disable super and even rare drops there, but rig it like the dungeon and let regular items have a fair chance of falling. 10 lvls of gold and no exp hole is more than enough help. anybody that couldnt handle that probably wouldnt play long even if given supers to start.
also it would ease the hassle of getting them to actually look at the walkthroughs or having to explain the basics to them everytime someone joins. by the time they finish there you could just explain some of the finer points and theyre good to go.
and on a side note, if newbs were actually getting and buying shop items it would decrease the need to give them rares. itd be a small part of the community but if they were eventually buying lvl3s and 4s itd help the people that are new now to make money and buy higher rares. this helps higher lvl people sell 8s for good prices. not an economy fix but a small boost.

How about instead of all this hard extra work..
If your level is 10 and under, you don't lose exp when you die. Also, it should be mandatory to read a quick simple tutorial before you start playing.

well i was just rolling from his idea, but that works too. but the tutorial, lots of people will just click through it and not read it, theres no way to force them, but if it were easier they might be more likely to do it. but yeah yours is a much easier fix.

Well, I've been trying to provide good alternatives to some suggestions that may be a lot easier to code and whatnot, and this is straying from that a little bit.. They could always start in a room, where its just a room, then they are told how to move, and to move on, they have to do the stuff its teaching you, then it moves you to another room where you have to learn, say, how to fight, and you have to do the fight successfully to move on, so on and so forth.

kinda like runescape? a little walk through that ends in them coming to llirrem? if they didnt mind adding a new place to have this it aint a bad idea, except for when you make a new char and have to go through it. add a loophole to get out in that case and its not so bad.

Sure, I never personally played Runescape, so I don't know, but it sounds about right.
Also, yeah, I'm not sure how to do an effective way to skip it if you are a true vet, or not be able to skip it if you are a true newb..

Maybe it could check your IP to see if it has ever been in the game before when you create a new character or something to that effect.

Hopefully NOT like Runescape. xD I still have membership on there, but I remember the first week I played. Not fun. The tutorial there is boring and doesn't cover all the points of the game...

aces i agree with you, but i was just trying to see if i understood his idea properly. if it were designed to only take 10-30mins and ther was a way that i could avoid it if i make another char, then i dont mind his idea. i will admit though that its easier for me to accept it because i won't be doing any work on it, mainly because i have no idea how to.

lol and to stress the point about how bad the RS tutorial is, I'm a P2P member.
Skipping it maybe should be a command or something that it tells you.

Oh, there's an idea. At the end of the tutorial, it gives a command to skip it, but you won't know it until you pass it at least once the first time. Most of that stuff would be fairly simple, I believe, as well.
