Earlier today, Rogue was being pestered by many people mass-wiring him gold against his will. This would steal his keyboard focus away from his chatbox whenever the gold has been sent, and would annoy him, since he doesn't "Accept charity" and attempts to return it.
Very few people fessed up to the act, making it harder to return and putting stess on him and making the annoyance one-sided and making him unable to retaliate in any way. Even Kyoko joined in on this, but unlike others, she admitted it, and so Rogue gave the 5.5 mil he has accumulated to her.
Since Rogue was so stressed and was being harrassed from what could be called "Behind a wall;" not unlike Amar's insults to HR, in which HR is left unable to retaliate, causing HR to be put under stress, and, in his case, he ended up with a ban. I think that some action should be taken.
In the next version, perhaps a type of button or F# could let you decide whether to accept wired gold, or to automatically send it back. Thank you.

I think a much easier thing to implement would simply be a text message that informs you of how much and who wired you gold, because then it defeats the anonymous "behind a wall" that you speak of.

True, but people tend to do stuff like that a LOT less once the element of anonymity has been taken away.. That's why the internet has so many immature acting people. The anonymity.

1. to ignore amar all hr had to do was put him on ignore, them amar isn't pestered by raths idiocy and rath doesn't have to hear amar make wisecracks.
2. i'd hardly call sending somone gold the worst thing you could do. just wire it back if you don't want it. if you dont know who sent it wire it to a random person or someone thats offline
3. lets face it if things are slow people need something to do. it seems obvious that people will do something to another to get a reaction for entertainment, like whoever it was looting a newbs corpse repeatedly today because he complained about it once. thats just human nature it seems

I. HR isn't the kind of person that'd do that kind of thing. He doesn't back down and Amar knows it, so he annoys rath for the hell of it and gets him in trouble. II. First: Nobody was willing to say that they sent it. It was like, 5 people. He just wanted to make sure it got back to who REALLY had it. Second: He wanted them to STOP. Third: It kept stealing his keyboard focus to update his bank gold, so he could hardly type with the mass-wiring. III. All the more reason we need the feature. Having fun at another person's expense is wrong, and DON'T relate that to PKing, because there is a choice in the form of a button called "Decline PvP/PK," and I think it is only fair for a "Decline Wiregold" as well.

Yeah, but this'd be removing the problem altogether.

1. rath made a choice, just like hitme almost never puts decline on even though kyo always pks him if theyre both on. he accepts that or puts decline on. the same way rath chose to accept it, if he's too childish to ignore some ribbing he needs to ignore it with the ignore option.
2. the way the game is setup sending gold anomously is part of it. there is no recquirment in the quest constition to admit to wiring gold. and as for the keyboard thing i've never had that happen to me, and it cant be that big a deal. oh no you have to click, that must be a lot of effort to expend in a computer game.
3. i wouldn't just relate it to pking although that is one example. useless random chat, duels, all can annoy people. heck i've seen people get ticked cause somebody trained by where they wanted to be. its a game and he was taking it way too seriously, if more people would just step back for a moment and chill a lot of the person-person problems on here would just go away.
ps-nice double post, guess that modify buttons just for show

Reply to Mukan: If we were to make a box pop up saying the wire-gold amt. the people getting sent masses of 1 gp at a time wouldn't benefit, at all. I. Pking and ignoring are different than wiring gold. You actually have a choice in them, unlike being wired gold. Think, mass amounts of people spamming you with 1-20 gp at a time, refocusing every few seconds... People have different behaiviors, hitme is stubborn when it comes to Pking, HR doesn't back down from insults, and I don't take charity. II. True, the anonymous sending is part of the game, but so is Pking and ignoring. you have an option in either. We have added and changed rules in life altogether, and this may be a simple add-on like many others. See the above post for the other answer. "Oh no, he won't accept my gold because his decline is on! I am doomed!" <-- this is not going to happen, senders cannot be hurt by it, for you lose gold when wiring anyways. III. Decline and ignore options solve all of those examples, being near someone with decline on and still getting ticked off is "childish". That would require the entire community to stop Pking people who hate dying, stop corpse looting for people who hate it... to "chill" people and keep the peace... that would ruin the game. Simply adding "The Decline Wire" option will solve this issue and allow people to continue what they were doing. In Quest, we are not to harass other players. Abusing the wire option and my personal "No Charity" code, keeping who wired what a secret, harrasses me and makes it difficult to distribute the gold to the rightful owners. In the second case, only kyoko told me and confessed what she did, unlike the rest who were wiring me several gold and leaving me to make up my mind, causing stress like "What if I gave 2 mil extra to someone who wired nothing?". I gave up and wired all of it to the person who I knew wired something, and would at least get what they wired.

I. Yeah, but even you can predict what HR'll do. It's part of people's behavior. Hitme is confident, so he has decline off. HR is proud and stubborn, so he refuses to back down from Amar's insults, even when it is one-sided. II. Lets see how YOU like being cut off fifteen times on a medium-length sentence, I'm sure Rogue enjoyed it. III. It is just how people are, plus, most of those examples have been solved or complained about before. * Useless chat - Killchat, ignore * Duels - Can be declined, Complaints about auto-accept when typing * Training in your spot (wow. what a noob this kid is.) - Move, ignore it, suck it up, or wait. PS-reply -- Just trying to give people the individual attention they deserve, Plus, If my post looks giant from adding over and over, who's gonna read it? (Take a look at the results of my other suggestions.)

well thats all fine and good, but i suggest rogue just get ready to be annoyed. people know you don't like it and will continue to do it. and while the idea of your decline option may be nice, don't hold your breath on it being implemented anytime soon. and by soon, i mean before you quit playing. things that really make the game better are slow in coming because jouser is always busy and that stuff takes time to program. things like this designed because just a few people want it and no one needs it move like old people fornicate. and if not keeping their gold is so important just make a new char get it to lvl3 and wire the gold there, once a week restart it, for 5 mins effort the golds gone. it'd be easier than making such a fuss, which by the way just eggs people on.

I realized in the middle that I needed to just simply stop chatting and it would settle down. I was still spammed with 1-20 gold and the occaisional 1ook-ish amount. The joke is old now, but I may have an occaisional 1-20 gold spammer come along for the sake of harassing someone. I understand that Jouser is busy, this may never come, and only few people like me get assaulted by this kind of thing. People were wiring gold to me not to use me as a banker, but to harass me and entertain themselves. I know this because they didn't specify their names. This may never come, but it's nice to have hope and a thread to express our views.

Well, for starters, I'm pretty sure the people(person) doing the wiring didn't know that it was stealing focus from this typing unless he said something? And I don't remember that. I only did it once and went back to my chess game. Secondly, I didn't mean to cause any trouble, I thought it was a possibility that he was saying he didn't like it only so that the people would continue (Yeah, I know I'm crazy like that). So I thought I'd wire him what I had at the time, 1.6 million, if he needed it. I missed most other parts. Now that I know the gold spamming is such a big deal, I'll let people know it steals focus, can be abused, and I'll talk with other QOs about making it bannable. I'm pretty sure we can track it, because we should be able to, but I dunno.

No matter what bugs it brings now, declining aid is a person's right. So a checkbox or F# key sounds great against wiregold and while we are on it, accept/deny trade requests too.

I mentioned the fact it was stealing focus from his chat while everyone was doing it. Ask him about it, I've never personally had that problem, then again, people don't mass-wire me gold. Ok been busy with stuff...
Ya theres been a few ppl who "dont accept cherity", and pl send em gold to bug em...
I done it, u done it, everyones done it. U see somone on the gold lists with exactly somthing million gold, and u gotta send em a few k to mess their stats up.
chances are he made a comment about gold which caused ppl to send it to him. i know if i clear my bank out and post about it, within seconds its got at least a thousand gold in it. Thats life. Try to post somthing along the lines of "there finally got all my gold outta my bank and into my clan. Gold: 0:0 and it will not stay that way very long.
So what to do?
Well if ppl keep sending u gold, dont say anything about it, and eventually they will stop because they think you dont care.
If all else fails.... /wiregold Jon_Deciple
lol.

Easiest to implement for me/Jouser is a chat command:
/noGoldMessage
not saved in config or anything, just until you log off instead of getting the usual wiregold message, you just get the gold, no lost focus. A minimum threshhold would prevent it from stopping actual large sums of cash being noticed... So if the amount is > 100k, you still get the message.
any objections?
