Quest Beta 5.13b [Feb 26, 2009] (Dlorak) Thoughts: *Briefly, this version is a patch of monsters. Monsters are the essential measuring stick for everyone and we want their levels to correlate to player levels for various balance reasons (exp, item drops, certain formulas). Recall, in 5.13 a we fixed a big bug that players didn't have armor. In 5.13a the same bug has been fixed for monsters. We also added some very minor boosts to monster stats so they more closely correlate to players. In short, monsters need to put a fight to reasonably equiped players and are intended to be balanced. This brings Quest closer to that ideal. (Yup, its a nerf too.) unpopular new stuff: *balance, monsters HP starts out at same pace as players, but higher tier monsters have progressively large HP bases. *balance, monsters weapons were scaling up too quickly early on, and too slowly at higher levels. *balance, monsters were basically fighting without any equipment. Armor was zero, mods were zero. Gave appropriate scaling mods to monsters: way less than the bonuses from commons at all levels, but slightly increasing towards common-like mods at higher levels. bug fixes: *Monsters armor% was decreasing as they leveled (stuck around 7%). They have more armor now (increasing as they level). Quest Beta 5.13 [Feb 26, 2009] (Dlorak) new stuff: *Sell prices to the vendors have been slightly modified: commons sell for the same amount as prior. weapons sell for 1/2 as much as prior. uncommons, rares, supers, and legendaries sell for less than before. [The purpose is to encourage trade, why sell an item on the AH when you only get 20% more than if you sold to the shop? let it be 100%+, and worth your while to put it on the AH!] (Smallest decrease in sell price to uncommons, largest decrease to legendary) *Mining requirements on high distance rocks raised. Larger skill investment required to mine excellent jewels. *AH transactions go to your CHEST (bank) instead of your on-hand cash. [Fingolfin] bug fixes: *armor% now DOES WHAT IT SAYS IT DOES!! [Funny how we all didn't notice for those first few days! Too busy leveling...] *the last use of a potion no longer has funky HP changes *Bosses fixed! Multiple people can fight bosses at the same time. *Bracers available on AH. *Won't crash client when adding (blank) skill points to a skill. *Mining jewels drop with rarity, the correct stats, and level requirements. Previously mined jewels will not be deleted. Quest Beta 5.12 [Feb 22, 2009] (Dlorak) *WIPE! 5.12 is a new Quest world with brand new characters! new stuff: *Items have an item level, new power numbers, and rarity. Log-in to find out! *Commons 1/100 *Uncommons 1/350 *Rares 1/1500 *Supers 1/4000 *Legendary 1/30000 *added over 60 new items for the amulet, rings, shoulders, and bracers slots! *Armory Dungeon has 1/50 drop rate on commons, no other variations. *Auction House revamped! *Top 50 list for the highest level monster killed. *Each point in DEF gives +4HP. (Huge buff to DEF!) *drop rates doubled for less than level 20 enemies. bug fixes: *huge efficiency gains to PK code: PK tourney's shouldn't be able to run the server out of memory anymore! *All spells cost MP again... Holy Healing spells out of battle, too. *Weird bug where HP didn't make sense when fighting Bosses should be gone. *2x Monster fights no longer have one crippled monster. *(Jan 19) Fixes to two most common server-crashing reasons. (Full gold for the first monster and half gold for the second.) *Potions capacity significantly increased. *When you are using potions in-battle, you can only gain 3% of the potion's total capcity as HP. (when fighting a level 5, you can still get 4's, etc.) *rare drop rates adjusted... 3's-1/1000, 4's-1/1500, 5's-1/2000, 6's-1/3000, 7's-1/4500, 8's-1/6500, 9's-1/9000. *new accessories-only drop rate added for rare accessories. 1/3000 for 4's. 1/4500 for 6's, 1/6000 for 8's. *super-rare drop rate nerfed to 1/250k. Worry not, super-rares aren't exponentially better than normal rares anymore! *PVP/PK is still doesn't truly support mages. A more measurable effort is planned to fix this rather than another band-aid fix... Our current 'band-aid' is to use INT as your attack power in PK. *NPC duels are broken. Not entirely unfunctional but really don't make sense. There is a long-term solution to be implemented in the future. *meditate is based on INT. Base rate per tic is 3MP. 10tics/second. 20pts in INT gives +1MP/tic. *Some MINING on the map. *How to mine: Stand on any "Rocky" tile and use the mining cursor to click on the tile. *Mining "removes" the mining tile: reloading the map refreshes all mining tiles. *Mining on the map has chance to find "Jewels" (1/500) and various buried treasure (1/250). *Mining from the old mines gives much reduced mining skillEXP than it used to give. *Mining: instant-death rate for all dig-types is doubled (Frantic Dig being the most notable). *New Jewels system: *JEWELS: Jewels can be obtained from mining *JEWELS: Jewels can be made by "Siphoning" a rare item. You get 5% of the item's total mods on a random stat. *JEWELS: "Siphoned" jewels have a 95-99% chance of success. *JEWELS: Mined Jewels have a 90% chance of success. *JEWELS: Jewels can be crafted into to weapons or armor (no acessories or potions). The jewel adds it's mods to the target item. *JEWELS: If crafting the jewel fails, boththe jewel and the item are destroyed. *JEWELS: Jewels cannot be removed from items. *Spells re-done. They are very "boring" right now. Look for more spell features soon. *SPELLS: fire does high damage, not based on INT. *SPELLS: holy has healing spells that increase in MP-efficiency and healing-potentcy. *SPELLS: Earth and Water are int-based spell trees. very "normal" damage. More distinct features coming soon. *SPELLS: Shadow spells deal int-based damage and leech a certain percentage of damage delt into HP. *Witch Sprites requirements raised. *sorry to the spear-lover's association and claw-users. Both item types are out of the game indefinitely. Quest Beta 4.4.10 [April 1, 2008] (Dlorak + Jouser) *Duplicate key bind states the key in question *Item Storage changed behind the scences. *Clan storage sorted by recency, rather than by alphabetical order. *In a trade, you can double-click on an offered item to confirm the item's stats (and durability!) *Store bought items go to the backpack *you can sell items from the backpack (but not from equipment slots anymore) *Different armories for different maps. However, Llirrem Armory still contains all items. *Durability loss rate greatly reduced for all items (1/5500 attacks or blocks results in lost durability). *SuperRares can lose durability. *Repair costs reduced for items with MPmods. *Repairs are now instant *nerf to maxDex -- ARES, contact Dlorak/Jouser for compensation. *Maps updated: Rothar, Velgrad, Noslin have a more professional touch. (same super drop rate as other maps) (Looking for itemPics!) *Old super weapon's "STRmod"s moved into "power" *Only certain monsters spawn in Velgrad Tunnel/Thorold. No effect on gameplay. *Races now have a starting weapon (suitable for starting skills) *Character creation screen visually updated *No more "you have trouble controlling your weapon" malarkey: if skill is below 2 you have a 25% chance to miss. Skill Above 2: no miss penality. *DEF formula changes: Armor offers % reduction. *DEF forumla changes: Every 3 points in the DEF stat reduces damage by 2. *DEF formula is really simple: (Incomming Damage) minus (Armor% reduction) minus (DEF stat reduction). Notice the stat reduction is applied AFTER the % reduction. *DEF formula: DEF-mods on equipment are additions to the DEF stat (not armor %) *DEF formula: Monster strengths have been severely cut. "50 is the new 95". (EXP gain is unaffected) *All "armor" itemtypes re-statted. Rares=50%, Supers=51%, Zerk/Arch=45%, . Notice DEFMODs. *Some weapon's DEFmods have been modified. *pk damage is halved before it enters the def formula.
