What once started as a dream, has now turned into reality

COMPLETE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Well, if your reading this then you have probably gotten Quest already installed. If not, to install Quest simply extract all of those files from the .zip file that you downloaded from the website to a folder or C:\Windows\Temp (Or simply double click on Setup.exe inside of WinZip). Setup.exe should be one of those files so after you have extracted all of the files double click, or run, setup.exe. Follow all of the on screen instructions and install Quest anywhere you like (Preferably C:\Program Files\Quest - but it makes no difference).

After its finished installing it will place a shortcut in your Start Menu bar. Open Quest by going to Start » Programs » Quest » Play Quest. You will first have to create a new character so click on New User then click Next. Answer all of the questions and then hit Submit after everything is filled out. If it was successful you will be warped back to the times of the 14th century. If you get a error creating a new user then this means that someone has already chosen then username that you are trying to use or that the Quest server may be down temporarily.

After you create your character you will need to click on Login and click Next. Then enter your Username and Password and click Continue. Assuming your entered your correct Username and Password, the Town Center should load up on your screen and your all set to experience the wonderful world of Quest!

UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS

If you already have installed the Quest Complete Installation package and you just want to upgrade to the latest release, then you need to download the Client.zip from the webpage in the downloads area. You will need WinZip (WinZip Homepage) to install this upgrade. Once the file is downloaded you need to open the file up and extract the client.exe (the only file inside of Client.zip) to the Quest installation directory which is most likely C:\Program Files\Quest\ and make sure you Overwrite the existing client.exe with the new one or the upgrade will fail.

After you have put the new client.exe into place you will need to do one more thing for the upgrade to be complete. Using Windows Explorer (or something similar like My Computer) go to wherever you installed Quest which is most likely C:\Program Files\Quest and delete the config.cfg file that you will see there.

Once those 2 steps are done you should have the latest version of Quest installed.

Configuring Quest

If your a newbie to Quest than you won't remember the old Config folder with irc.srv and master.srv and the only thing you could configure was where Quest looks for the IRC and Quest Master Server servers.

Well now, I have added a small robust scripting language into Quest; which is only going to expand as we continue to develop Quest. Right now you can set both servers and configure several different options as well as a few scripting features. There will be lots more to come with this especially an auto login feature so you don't have to type in your username and password each time. Go ahead and play around with config.cfg as much as you would like and if you do happen to corrupt the file (so Quest won't run) just delete config.cfg and Quest will automatically regenerate the file in its original form.
